Heyo everyone,

I'm struggling to make up an inquiry question and 3 sub questions for my ancient history ia2. The topic is the first crusades, and I need these questions by Tuesday. T.T I've tried to come up with many but my teacher has rejected both the inquiry question and sub questions. If anyone could help that would be great, thanks! Only allowed to do the first crusade by the way.

I couldn't find a tag for ancient history on this thingy, but I'm hoping someone has taken ancient history.

EDIT: I've just removed stuff in case of turnitin

Heyo! I did QCE Ancient history so I hope I can help ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you tried something along the lines of "What motivated the Pope to focus the reunification of Christendom, and what were the benefits that stemmed out of this focus?"

"How would reclaiming the Holy land during the first crusade benefit the middle class people versus how they would benefit the politicians/leaders during the first crusade?"

"How did the relationships between crusaders and the Byzantine Empire ultimately impact the the Pope's focus?"

    OR
"How do the modern sources portray the reunification of Christendom in comparison to ancient sources?"

With your Key Inquiry Question, make sure to add a year and i've lowkey fixed this up to make it a bit more specific: e.g. "To what extent was Pope Urban II's focus on the reunification of Christendom, rather than the reclamation of the Holy Land during the First Crusade, in 1096?"

I've also chucked below my IA2 questions from last year, and I hope this helps you get a better understanding of what's expected (I got 24/25 btw)

KIQ: To what extent did Miltiades have the most significant role in achieving Athenian victory over the Persians at the battle of Marathon in 490BCE; or were there other individuals such as Callimachus whose role was just as important?

    1. How is Callimachus remembered in relation to the Battle of Marathon?
    2. What was Miltiadesโ€™ role at Marathon?
    3. How do the ancient sources portray Miltiades and Callimachus in comparison to the modern sources?

    Hope this helps,

Thank you so much jinx_58 this was very helpful! So my sub-questions would be (i'm just going to send it as an image, so I can quickly delete it, so it doesn't come up as plagarism):

Also if there's any better sub questions or better aspect to put in a sub question feel free to tell me, I don't mind changing as I'll do my research tonight ๐Ÿ™‚

If I sent screenshots of my draft when I'm finished, would you be able to check it (I'm also aiming for a 24/25 so this would be appreciated)... Thank you!!

Also would turnitin be able to pick this up as some sort of plagarism or anything, or would it be fine for you and me to leave the questions up here?

        chocomilkenthusiast
All goods! With the first sub question, remember to specify which Pope Urban it was, because they can dock marks if you're incorrect. Turnitin shouldn't be able to pick the questions up, and if does, let me know and I'll just edit my post lol. It shouldn't pick up ur image either so you should be right.

Also, I suggest making your 3rd sub question your 2nd paragraph, because sources usually come at the end and it flows better.

Feel free to send screenshots of your draft, uni is quite busy but I'll deffos check it out ๐Ÿ™‚

        Good luck!

Oh okay thank you! Just to clarify I should put the info of the 3rd sub question for the second paragraph of the rationale? Or do you mean change the order of the questions with the third sub as the second now? Once again thank you, and also good luck with uni, you will slay so hard!

            chocomilkenthusiast
Change the order of the questions with the third sub as the second. Always talk about the sources last.
            That is:

            1. Pope Urban n Christian union question
            2. Byzantine Empire question
            3. Sources question

Follow this structure when you talk about it in the rationale and in your paragraph structuring.

good luck with uni, you will slay so hard!

            Thank you lol, needed that
