  • Please help me - Select entry school 2024

Hello I'm sitting the select entry school exam this year for entry in 2024. Do you think I should put Nossal or Macrob as my first preference, (macrob and melbourne high seem like more popular options at my school and there are less places at nossal.)? Also I attend a very very very competitive school, do you think equity consideration will help me? I know that there isn't really a minimum score to get accepted, but can you tell me roughly the score of everyone from your school who got accepted? Do you also have any tips on to stay calm and not anxious during the exam? Thank you so much.

Hi, I'm a current year 9 student at a selective school. Regarding your question about whether you should pick Nossal or Macrob, I would recommend you research each school and consider what each one has to offer. In addition, you should consider how far you live from each of the schools.

If you are eligible for equity consideration, I would recommend that you apply for it, as it would help you get into the school. Regarding the test scores, I know some people who didn't get superiors but could still get in, and they didn't come from very competitive schools. May I ask what school you go to? I do know that in some extremely competitive schools, you do need quite a few superiors.

For the exam, I would recommend getting to the place early, familiarising yourself with the place, and bring water and a snack. Also definitely go to the bathroom before the test, and in the break (they said a 15 minute break, but they gave us like a 30 minute break). Also, try to get really good sleep a few weeks before the exam.

It is also good to keep in mind that they recently changed the test format from EduTest to ACER this year.

I'm not quite sure if this really helps, but feel free to ask me any more questions! 🙂
