My school is government and public as well. The education at my school is quite shit, as they prioritise, "having many opportunities" more than anything. I mean, there is nothing wrong with that, but at least they should show some concern about education. Apart from my rant, quite a lot of people from the year 8 cohort go to some sort of selective based tuition, that's why it's fairly competitive.
