I'm a student at Macrob and I sat the sehs test in 2024 which now that i think about it feels like ages ago. A huge thing I emphasised to anyone sitting the test is that normal english and maths tests at school don't reflect selective exam pressure or question styles. It's rlly annoying but they have very unique questions such as the "if pots are cots and some dots are tots..." questions in verbal or number patterns in the maths tests so its important that you dedicate time to practising these unique kinds of questions. For math its rlly the more practise tests u do the better. When I was doing sehs prep I noticed that as you did more tests it was easier to recognise patterns and strategies in the tests. For the essay as well practise is imperative. I wrote 2-4 essays a week and had they corrected by my tutor. The more you write the more ideas you have alrdy thought of that you can re-use and soon enough you'll be able to link any prompt to an idea you've alrdy written abt! Timing is generally the biggest separator and the thing that many of us found the most difficult. Not only is it hard to do questions efficiently, the pressure of finishing on time can also mess you up so its important to practise and get confident that you can finish the test within the time limit. Sorry for yapping a lot TT but to sum it up just practise as much as you can and go into the test confident that you can perform at you best!!!
(also in terms of tutoring i think going to somewhere like JAC or Edukingdom is great for the sake of getting a ton of practise tests, plus I know that JAC also holds a mock exam which is cheaper for their students! It would also help to have someone to correct and give feedback on your essays as well!)

Mathematics: 35 Questions in 30 Minutes
Quantitative: 40 Questions in 30 Minutes
Verbal Reasoning: 60 Questions in 30 Minutes
Reading Comprehension: 35 Questions in 30 minutes
Writing: 2 writings both creative and persuasive in 40 minutes

does the exam exceed the year 8 curriculum bcuz the website says it doesnt but a bunch of ppl said it does?

*-* I would reckon learn year 8 topics and advanced year 8 topics, if you want to be safe maybe basic year 9 topics aswell, but I highly doubt they would cover year 9 topics. About the edutest papers, I don’t think you should get it. It might help a bit, but since the test is now formatted by acer it won’t really help to much yk? I would recommend searching online for some hendersons acer practice tests and maybe jac aswell as I go there and there practice tests are quite similar to the acer one.

does getting one average and four superiors drag ur chances of getting in

*-* The average does but you'll still get in. 4 superiors is an impressive score and obviously ranks you higher than the top 10% and since 15%-20% get in 4 superiors guarantees entry (May not be applicable for Competitive schools)
