JMSS 2024 Entry

lee Yes there should be a second round for sure . As per my research ( in ATAR notes) there are people who attempted both JMSS and other selective schools like Melbourne High, Mac Robertson etc. So if they get offer in both, they will eventually have to select one ( based on their preference , distance form home etc). SO there are good chances for a second round of offer. Dont lose hope. Even if you dont get , keep trying next year . I didnt get selective school last year and I was reluctant to write any tests . My mum made me write JMSS and selective school this year . Happy and grateful that i got JMSS this year .So keep trying .. all the best

@everyone ..can anyone suggest me if my acceptance in John Monash Monash will affect my chances to be called for MHS. Currently I am in the waiting list for MHS and asking this cuz it will show in edu test’s data that I have accepted John Monash. I am confused what to do as I prefer MHS school more for distance.

Cheesecake7 Although I'm not familiar with the role or edu test, I doubt that edu test will have a record of any offer you may have received or accepted. Someone might be able to give you a better answer.

I was wondering how the waiting list works. How many pupils are on the waiting list? How many students leave selective schools each year?

Has anyone got something from JMSS yet after accepting the offer?

I accepted my offer for 2024 last week and along with all the paperwork asked whether anything else was required. I got an email back saying that they had what they needed and they would contact me if they need anything else so am pretty sure that it is okay. I would think eventually once all the offers have been made they will send out an email with more information?

I'm in Year 8 and got a select for Suzzane Cory for Year 9, but this is very far from where I live, so declining the offer and prepare for JMSS next year. Any guidance on where to start preparation from for 2024 exams next year? May be its too early, but some pointers will be gr8! Any discussion thread which I can refer?

I would greatly appreciate if you would give some advise on the one on one and group interview for JMSC
I can't seem to find anything on the interviews,
I would also like if you guys would give me some advice on how to pass the test

Tent33!! I don't have much on the test, because I haven't gotten my results yet, but I do remember the interview. When you first go in with your group, someone will run an icebreaker, which I don't believe was assessed, but it's still worth talking. Mine was to find something we all had in common.
After that, there was an ordering activity. The scenario was that we were stranded in an island and we had a bunch of items we were supposed to order by importance. Again, all you can really do is be involved.
Then there was an activity where you had to make a course for a spherical object to land in the middle of an masking tape 'X', it was pretty easy. I also heard some people got one where they had to make a ramp for a toy car instead.
That was the end of the group part, and there was a maths test. It inly had 1-2 questions, and it was relatively simple. Mine was a grid going 1-10, 2-11, 3-12, etc, in each column. The question was just adding stuff up. My friend got one where a number was divided, multiplied, and you had to work backwards ti get the number.
Finally, there's the 1-1 interview. It'll be in a little booth, and it's likely that you'll get a Monash uni student. They'll give you a minute to read over the questions, and then it'll start.
The questions were things like 'Why do you like science?' or 'What other priorities do you have and how do you manage them', then there were some about climate change, scientific inventions/discoveries, and then about your future plans.

I recently did the John Monash test for year 10 entry and didn’t get the interview sadly.I was wondering If i could ask to reconsider their choice since no one in my school got the interview.(The 3% Rule)
I was also wondering If i could send my test results to Melbourne High and Nossal to ask if i can get in.Since they also used to run with Edutest last year.
