After being scoring 20/20 on both my IA2 student experiments for Chemistry and Biology, I unfortunately found that after external confirmation, I had been dropped to 19/20 and 17/20 respectively for either subject. I should note that, for both, I was within the realm of 50-100 words over the 2000 limit, however in both cases, I was dropped the one and three marks for my introduction and rationale (according to what I have been told by my teachers).

After getting these confirmation results, my teachers in both subjects decided to contest these results with the QCAA with the approval of my school. For reference, both teachers have never had an assignment mark changed in confirmation. I am still clinging to hope of an ATAR of 99+ despite taking PE, Biology and Study of Religion, so I am quite concerned about my exact final marks, but thus far, after about 3 weeks and 1 week of waiting respectively for Chem and Biol, neither of my teachers have heard anything back from QCAA. Anyone who was experience with contesting QCAA confirmation results, how long should this process take, and, based on your guys' own experience, how likely is it that my 20/20 results will be reinstated?

Being completely honest, its not going to change most likely. A friend of mine contested it too for a timeframe of 5 weeks, and nothing really happened they just led him on. Its quite tough dropping a mark, especially aiming for an ATAR that high, but if you look at the percentages that were moved up as compared to moved down its very much more towards the being moved down side. Especially after being endorsed by confirmers, its less likely to be rechanged.
