Kind of and not really! The performance descriptors of this task are very explicit about the student achieving a purpose (to explain, to express, to argue, to reflect) and about the sophistication of the ideas within the framework raised by the title and the stimulus.
So while you can sort of skim surface level stuff with the GAT writing task 2, in order to do well in this new Section B, you'll need to demonstrate very insightful consideration of the ideas, which you should be doing in class when doing that AOS.
