@A!
I have some more questions sorry...

  • At macrobs, are the maths/science/English classes 'at level' or do they just say that and actually have it a year higher?
  • Are the teachers approachable for out-of-school work you would like help with?
  • With the sport, who is cross country/athletics/swimming held?
  • How are the facilities as; the library, any playground/oval.
  • How many times and for how long do we have sport and what do we actually do in the connect program?

Thanks so much again, sorry if some of these questions have been asked before

Hey, I have a question about the “extension program” (I think you do VCE units 1/2 in Year 10).

…fine, I don’t have a question. I need to know the whole thing.

      Hey Aru,
      No worries!
As for science & English I would say that a) they cover the year 9 curriculum in preparation for year 10 and b) have a focus on getting everyone on the same page due to students coming from all different types of schools.
Maths, however, is definitely 'accelerated' but still doable.
Teachers are generally approachable but they definitely have a strict approach to not emailing before/after hours (so from 8:00am-4:20pm)
With sport, athletics & swimming are held at Lakeside Stadium and MSAC respectively. Cross Country is non-compulsory and organised externally.
As you would be able to see from a map of the school, Mac.Rob is conventionally 'small'. So we don't have a playground or an oval which is a bit annoying but I can say that the library, while small (again) is nice!
Year 9s get 2x55 minute practical lessons for sport each week & connect is just about wellbeing techniques and mindfulness.

      Hey Sejal!
So by 'extension program' I assume you mean acceleration in Year 10.
Yes, in year 10 the majority of students may do one Unit 1/2 subject and some times 2 depending on your study habits etc.
There is a limited selection to choose from, mainly being the humanities domain and arts/tech domain with the exception of Physics U2 and Methods U1/2 (by selection, no one can just freely choose to do this).

A! Hey there! Just had a couple questions regarding acceleration in year 10.

        1. Can we repeat the vce subject if we don't get a good mark?
        2. How do people get selected for the maths and physics accelerated?

          Hey!
          1) So the thing is with vce subjects is that you cannot repeat units so, essentially, the answer to your question is no.
          2) From memory roughly 20-30 girls get selected for Methods U1/2 (out of a cohort of 300) and Physics U2 anyone can select provided they are doing 3 or less other VCE Units. (I.e, you cannot do VCE External Language 1/2 + VCE Humanities 1/2 and VCE Physics 2)

I'm deciding what laptop to get for macrob and I wanted some more opinions (cuz my dad wants my opinion but irdk) what do y'all recommend?

          • MMHS replied to this.

thats if you get to choose out of any laptop, unless there are set types for macrob

i_need_mental_asylum Maybe just get a laptop that is not too high-end, but is still useful. Probably a laptop from 2019 onwards. Windows is relatively low-priced, and MacBooks offer a user-friendly User Interface. It comes down to personal choices. But at least get a laptop with >8GB RAM and a 10th Gen Intel processor onwards or Apple Silicon.

Most of this might just be basic knowledge... heheh. Hope this helps.

you dont need anythings special, but make sure its a touch with a stylus preferrably windows
