Hey guys, this is my first time being here, so bear with me lol

Priority:
Basically I'm going to go for the JMSS (John Monash) test next year for 2026 entry. I just wanted some tips for the test?

Non-priority:
Also, I recently completed the SEHS (Selective) test for 2025 entry, and i honestly don't think I got into any of the schools (looking at it from a logical perspective). I'm under a lot of pressure from my parents, especially for JMSS, and I'm very stressed about when the results come out. So, does anyone have any tips to cope with the stress?

yep same. i wanna go too. doing the text next yr as well. idk what to study for, like do we need deeper knowledge of science, like yr 10 stuff, or js year 9 stuff.

whisper I did the JMSS test this year. The math and NR part for me was easy and its relatively similar to the contents in previous Selective school tests (EDUTEST not ACER).
For science reasoning most questions were on interpreting information, for example they had given us four images of different objects on top of another and asked which fossilized object was the oldest. I do not remember much but I do know balancing chemical equations, acids and bases, and why is it hard for us to differentiate the colours in fireworks (kinda random probably do not need to revise on) were on the test for one or two questions. ALSO revise on the periodic table, because it may come in the test even though it didn't for me.

My recommendation is to look through almost all of your year 9 and 8 science textbooks and some year 10 topics. Also the writing part had given us a stimulus sheet( about organoids and stem cells, also included quotes and research on organoids) and told us to use this for our essay, and include answers for three questions; what is the difference between organoids and stem cells, what are organoids, and what are the ethical dilemmas that may arise when experimenting with organoids.

Sorry I couldn't remember much from the test, and PLEASE do not go to JMSS because your parents want you to, go there because YOU want to go. My sister got in to JMSS and my parents are putting a lot of pressure on me, but that doesn't affect my studying because I REALLY like the school.
    Hope it helps!

.. hi sorry to bother you again, but for the science essay, what structure did you follow? and for the prac report, did you have to write out the entire thing like aim, hypothesis, method, discussion and conclusion?
and last question, how much time was given for each of the tests?

whisper For the prac report writing it tells you on the stimulus sheet(information sheet) what key things to add on your writing piece, our one we had to do a aim(purpose), hypothesis, variables(controlled, independent, dependent), extra materials needed to replicate experiment, discussion(1-2 paragraphs) and real application(how would this apply in the real world). You can search online how to structure information and experiments.

The science interest piece(forgor full name) you just need to do 4-5 paragraphs with a introduction and conclusion. But you have to implement the things they tell you to answer in your writing piece. For example on our Organoids information sheet it ask us to answer, "What are the differences between organoids and Stem cells?" Which I made a full paragraph on, I made three body paragraphs one paragraph for each question we needed to answer. Also as someone else had previously stated you have 25 mins to write and 5 mins to plans for both.

Sorry I might have not said the most clear advice as its been a while, but I hope it helps!!
BTW did you get in for SEHS??

          .. thank you so much!
also, I didn't get into SEHS for the first round, but I'm hoping I'll get in next round
