While we’re waiting, how about we share our story and motivations to get into a SEHS? I’ll start:
For me, I heard about Selective Schools from my parents in Grade 5, but I thought year 8 was rlly far away so I had lots of time. Was I wrong? Absolutely.
So in December 2023, before year 8 started, I began preparing but I didn’t realise how tough the competition was. It wasn’t until April this year (with only 10 weeks) that I got more practice materials and JAC. Overall I believe it helped me in the exam, just not as much as it could have.
My motivations to get into a SEHS are firstly the fact that Selective Schools assist us in the process of having a good opportunity as we grow. Also, my current school is not that challenging and I feel like the curriculum here isn’t that good, also my peers at this school aren’t very kind or academic. And finally, my parents had promised me if I get into a selective school I would get a new laptop which is a big motivation for me. So yea 🙂
