Sierra i only started doing mild studying (looking at year 9 textbooks etc.) in december last yr, but only really took it seriously after mid-april. i spent more time on selective than school for like the 9 weeks. i mostly did weekends, but some during the weekdays too so yea

clover ugh i feel so bad for my parents i can see how sad they are it just kills me

clover ty but i just feel so burnt out like all that work for no output

it aint the end of the world, vce is the end goal and the main point of priority

MMHS but like going to selective is such a big opportunity and vce is so much easier when at selective imo

bro Sierra getting into a selective school doesn't mean you are really that smart in terms of what vce and school seeks in day to day like, i know kids that are really smart in my class and didn't get in bc they weren't as good at this stuff, in the end, while in vce, you will need to do essays, passage analysis for english, not finding the synonyms of words, and you'll be doing integrrals and Iim in maths, not numerical reasoning, please stop stressing because you didn't get in. Listen, being at a sehs might be a slight advantage but that doesn't magically boost your atar in year 12. All selective schools are good schools but just because you might perceive of these as alpha and omega, don't put your school in second place. Yes these schools are good, yes they bring the best out of you, but what they can't guarantee is your future, your occupation, your life, your atar, your future family. You can do so poorly in a selective school yet people on the outside will think you are a genius, yet if you go to a trash school and you're the smartest in your school and smarter than most in victoria, people will disregard you. So while selective schools are great for those that get in just don't stress if you don't get in, it really isn't the be all and end all. Also if your parents are disappointed in you i don't think that's very good because a) that shows that it was their idea not your's and in a way a certain tyranny over you, and b) if they are forcing you then in the end you won't enjoy it (this may not be true what i said but yea). Selective schools are ranked high because its a cheat code, all the smart students obviously want to study in these schools, thus they gather all the smart kids, that's why its ranked so high. If i opened a high school named "Yay College", and i brought in the best professors and scientists in the world to teach students, then obviously it would be a high ranked school. Getting my drift?? So, don't worry if you didn't get in, VCE is the main goal, that is what determines your future pathways, not whether you get into a SEHS or not.
