Dosanjh (NHS/SCHS) i never said they had school zones nor did i say you cant go to one that is far away, i'm saying it's much harder to get accepted if you don't live close to one of the schools as competition is hefty. let's say student A got 3 superiors and 2 top 20s and lives in berwick, and student B got 2 superiors, 2 top 20s and an average and lives in hoppers crossing. if they both had SCHS as their 1st preference and only one spot was left, student B is much more likely to get in despite their lower scores because they live so close and are likely to accept the offer. student A, while presumably the better candidate, would probably decline the offer as they live closer to NHS and are probably not willing to travel so far, meaning that the school wouldn't bother giving them an offer in the first place
