Ye, I mean we all have our strengths and weaknesses, I probably won't get in from my competitive school. Do u have any tips on how to improve reading comp and writing? I just thought it was a natural skill, but since the exam is over, I hope some people could give tips in the future, so I could do good in the year 10 test maybe.

Jerome21 if u dont mind me asking, what school do you go to? if you want to improve reading comp and writing, read. just read. reading is the easiest way to improve any aspect of english.

Jerome21 Also, in another forum you posted your predictions. You said you'd get a 27/35 for reading. Imo this isn't such a bad score. I reckon this will get you a HA. Out of 30, what do you think you'll get for writing?

Illiman Ndiaye Oh no, I said that I reckon that would be the superior score. Judging that you would give that a high average, I suppose the score is around the 30's. This is making me panic even more. For Creative I would get around 23/30, the same score I got for VSSE and for persuasive 25/30, better than what I did in VSSE before. I reckon.

Jerome21 do you think you need to build your descriptive lang or analytical lang? if descriptive, read dystopian fiction books. i recommend books like scythe, thunderhead, the inheritance games, one of us is lying. if you want to build your informative/analytical lang, i'd recommend diving into the world of non-fiction, but tbf you can build your writing with any genre, so just read what you enjoy.

Illiman Ndiaye Oh na, last year the entry score for selective schools were 4 superiors and 1 above average for my school. That is the only reason behind why I am marking myself harshly, because getting in is like winning a lottery.

Illiman Ndiaye Thank you so much for your advice, I mean when I came across this I was shocked upon seeing a cohort of students helping each other like altruistic individuals. I feel like this is a great space to share stories, and inspire the future generations to do kind things amongst our peers. Hopefully you all make it into your dream selective school. By the way, for the analytical writing, which non-fiction books do you recommend?

Jerome21 to be honest, I haven't tried upleveling my analytical writing in a whileeeeeee. books which delve deep into political and philisophical issues are great according to some friends. but when I read non-fiction, i read about psychology. a few that I've read are 'atomic habits', and 'surrounded by idiots'. they'll probably appear plain to lots of people but analytical writing is bland in itself if you think abt it
