Hi everyone!
I have a few questions in regarding to the 2025 entry for JMSS. I would like those who have done the exam recently (a 2 year gap or so) to answer these questions as they would be relevant. So, I've decided to get into JMSS next year and I must get in. I need some advice on how to prepare and what science stuff to study. I have no idea and am blank on the science part of the exam. How do you write a science report, any websites or such? What do you need to study for the science?

I'm sorry if this is very vague, but overall I would just want advice on how to pass the JMSS exam.

Thank you.

My advice is know your geography and sharpen up your science. It helps a lot to keep up with the news especially with updates on medicine or science related. Like if there's something on global warming read that. If some company is experimenting with CRISPR do some research. The best way to ace the exam is to have a strong foundation of knowledge. Me personally I was cramming some science revision last minute for the JMSS exam, I was studying on the day of 🙁 but I got an interview because of my prior knowledge. The science reasoning had 30 ques for 30 min and the difficulty wasn't too bad in my opinion.

For Maths and NR, revise consistently. There were 60 ques 30 min and you don't get time to breathe. Practice speed and make sure you have a good base for maths too. The amount of questions seem intimidating but they don't go too deep, it's mostly speed. Don't put off studying and do the edutest practice tests. I ended up buying 6 because I also sat the year 10 entrance to mghs. I did a couple of the year 9 ones but they tend to be easy so try the year 10s for a challenge. If you run out try the year 11 ones too. Don't be intimidated by the grade. The NR tends to be not too hard.

Don't be nervous on the exam day the JMSS Staff are really nice and just be prepared.

Hey, thanks for the advice. I'm great at geography and news - like awesome. The science though I have no idea what to do. Any advice on mainly the science report writing and the science test?

for the science writing they gave us a report and we had to write a discussion essay which basically your TEEL paragraph just don't be opinionated, like neutral standing saying what you could have fixed and what can be better. They provided a list of what to include in your writing for both tests and gave generous time unlike the Year 8 Acer Selective exam. We got 5 min planning and 30 min writing. And I cannot stress this enough DO NOT FOLD THE PAPER, it comes in an A3 sheet and the machine won't scan if you fold it, the examinors aren't going to give you another... I saw kids next to me folding their sheets even after we were told not to.

They provide the table and background info for the report but honestly I walked into the exam room knowing nothing about how the writing was 🙂 but its fine now as long as you have good base!

Watch those TED EDS and Wall street journals. Educate yourself, it also helps to know a ton for the interview.

Do you have an example of a CV Report ( Education Resume ) which I can see? Just curious as you should have set it up for your interview

boo do u got any material bro it would be appreciated pls

@io games You should focus on understanding the core scientific concepts, practice writing reports, and utilize available resources to enhance your knowledge.

@"boo"#p40154There is also an opinion piece about an issue you might need to write about. For this, just follow the normal persuasive structure with three body paragraphs.
