Omg congrats, Last year when I did it they told me that there were 300 applicants and they called in 15 (your in the top 5% woohooo) to first round interviews (which was solo and included a maths test) and later had a second round (which consisted of family interviews but I think they only called 7 out of 15 to this round). They asked me standard interview questions, some of which were a bit strange like

"why do you want to leave your school",
-"did you go to tutoring in preparation for the selective exam",
-"Did you make it into selective"
-"what school will you be going to next year if not here"
-"Have you ever been overseas, if so how many countries (try say something like "im very grateful that my parents really tried to give me the best experiences yadayada")
"Do you have siblings?"
"What was a difficult time in your life and how did you overcome it?" (I really struggled with this one but remember this isnt a therapy session its an interview)

These are just the ones I remember but yea also remember that this is a FOUNDATION interview, its by a charity so they typically want to give it to kids who can't afford a private school education otherwise (like this ties in a lot with the how many countries question, be honest about it but be humble, this is where i messed up ). Don't be intimidated they were really nice and friendly and its ok to be nervous just fake it till you make it ig

boo For the test it was just maths for me and there was also a separate form they ask you to fill out to list your achievements and basically write down your answers to the questions they asked previously.

There was two sets of interviews last year one with a panel of 4 people and another with just 2 people. Be confident and honest.

Voxel dome aahh sorry for such a late reply guys im not sure if u guys have had ur intervieww ❣️ looking back, i didnt take melb foundation that seriously LOL so i was doomed to fail, but tbf a lot of the questions were pretty personal, like what school i went to, what my family did etc. they were ur generic interview questions, tho outside the personal ones there were questions like what u wanted to do in the future & if u knew how to get to ur dream job (subjects, uni prereqs etc.), how you spend your weekends, your favourite subjects & for me , they made me do a small math test & also fill out a sheet with awards i may have recieved and extra curriculars ive done (which i definitely lacked in). its actually kinda cool bc the recipients from last year also help around during the interviews B)

i also do remember them asking about why id like to have the opportunity, if i was the type to be the leader in a friendgroup or "a sheep" in their words (i hated that question bro what sane friendgroup has a leader), the skills i thought i had and i think they asked a time where i found something difficult & how i overcame it. they also asked about travel (well for me) and yeah! slightly off topic but ive been preparing for my JMSS interview & a few of the sample questions ive found felt similar to what they asked me last year so try to do a few practice interview questions. other than that, goodluck! i cant say for the boys skl, but st catherines is quite a nice school 🙂

i got into first round interviews for st catherines and was wondering if anyone could tell me more abt how it was like. the email i recieved says there will be 2 written tests and 2 interviews approx 2.5 hours (in total i think). from what i've heard the tests were in selective edutest format but i've also heard different from other years. i'm really nervous and any information or tips for the interview would help me a lot!

also, do we need to dress formal for the interview?

ive progressed to the final round and pretty much everything you said they've asked me. they didnt ask the qs about the friendgroup tho but thats an interesting question... i did see two of the year 9s helping out.

hopefully i get in bc st catherines seems like a great school!
