Hi guys I’m in Yr 11 , so I didn’t go very well on my unit 3 sacs and got an over all of 55% avrg for psych. Now I’m working hard and hoping for ATLEAST a 75 avrg for Unit 4 sacs. Is it possible to even hit a 35 study score ? 😭 . Or should I js give up!

😭 i have no idea about how that works, but sac’s are only 50% of the mark, the other 50% is the exam. so please don’t give up!! always here to help if you need 🙂

😭 i have no idea about sacs but the only thing i will say don't give up maybe god has other plans for you

You can definitely still make a comeback for it. It is really never over until the final exam. Where your ranking in your school of the final exam mark determines the rank of the sac score in your school that you will obtain. This sounds really complicated, but the key take away is that it is really not over until the final exam. If you have any questions you can reply to this post.

      Hehe.

Don't worry about it too much! The SAC's are there to form a ranking in your class. (So say you had the 3rd highest SAC score overall, you'd get rank 3) Which in the end only matters in a bad way if your exam rank is different. (Say you had the 2nd highest exam score).

They scale it to match. (So if your exam rank is worse, you'll get dragged up...)

So the best thing you can do now, is to do awesome this sem, and on that exam.
Also after you've finished your SACs, help your classmates in swatvac and get them to do amazing too!

If i remember right, tsfx had some cool graphs which related practice exam score, and study score.
I reckon you can still go +35 🙂

Hi everyone, thank you for your replies. Personally, I don’t think my rank is the best (my school doesn’t provide us with our ranks), but I see some people getting upset over scores in the 90s, while others about (4-5) people need to resit SACs. I'm starting to study really hard for the exams to boost my mark. If you have any tips, I’m open to anything. I’m just aiming for a raw score of 35, even though my parents think I'm not capable of anything above 25 🥹. I’m dedicating 2-3 hours to psychology alone, and any extra time goes to my 1/2 subjects. I’m hoping for a miracle to help me get that 35!

😭 hi! i’m more than happy to help, i’m averaging around a 90.
first thing first; do NOT listen to your parents discouragement. rather use their discouragement as a source of motivation, like a “HA i proved you wrong” moment. only YOU know what you are capable first and foremost, and it is extremely evident that you’re being proactive in trying to do your best.

do you have the cambridge checkpoints for psychology? they would be really good to use if you have them, and if you don’t, they are $28 if you are able to purchase. if not, there are plenty of trial exams on vce.rocks to use (practice questions, regardless of subject, are the best form of revision for unit 3/4.)

try getting into good habits— completing multiple choice questions in 30 minutes, practicing 10 markers in 18-20 minutes, timed exam conditions. try studying between 9am and 11:45am as this is the time of the psych exam, to form that routine.

also use flashcards— i am more than happy to link mine and another user’s flashcards if you wish. easy form of revision, and can identify areas of strengths and weaknesses before doing questions.

and finally, use the traffic light system. get each dot point on the study design and label it either green (you KNOW this), yellow (you need to review) or red (what the hell is this).

        hope this helps!!

Thank you so much for the encouragement and helpful advice! It’s really motivating to hear from someone who’s doing so well. I’ll definitely check out the Cambridge Checkpoints for psychology and start practicing under timed conditions. The idea of using flashcards and the traffic light system is brilliant too ,I’d love to see your flashcards if you’re willing to share. Thankyou so much again, and good luck with your studies as well!

a lot of the stuff here is irrelevant… like you will NEVER be asked to define a bar chart lol.

theres also the question page on this forum, where you can ask questions. more than happy to help any time, and also some really cool people who reply there too who are nice and very helpful 🙂
