Bro my writing is TRASH: Students should receive less homework
Recently, there was a debate whether children should have more homework. Although homework can be useful for revising, children often have to miss sports or extracurricular activities because of the time wastage of homework. Additionally, homework can damage a childās mental health and lead to stress. Homework can significantly reduce the quality of class.
To complete so much homework, you have to put time into it. Time is a valuable aspect of homework which is something not all students have. For example, if a student has a busy week with swimming after school everyday, when will this child have time to complete homework? If they fail to complete homework, some teachers will think that the child is intentionally not doing his or her homework, making the child seem more āstupid.ā Children shouldnāt be flooded with homework because students will then miss certain activities.
Homework can be detrimental to a childās mental health as it is stressful. Homework is difficult for some students leading to procrastination and stress. According to studies, receiving homework is more likely to give the child stress and anxiety. Who would want their child to be the victim of anxiety, stress and other mental health, just because a student receives too much homework? Children should receive less homework to protect their mental health.
Homework can reduce the quality of class. For students to receive homework, teachers have to create them! This results in the teacher using more time for homework, leading to less time for class lesson plans. If we think homework is that important, just remember that it reduces the quality of class time. Are we trying to turn our homes into schools? Obviously not. Students shouldnāt be bombarded with homework as it reduces the classā quality
Homework is useful for schools as it allows revision. However schools shouldn't give too much homework to students as some of them just donāt have enough time. It can also lead to mental health issues like stress and anxiety. The increase of homework for students means less time for teachers to plan for class, meaning poor quality classes.
