I know I already posted this, but I’m still panicking so I’m posting again for one last gut-check.
I didn’t get into Melbourne High in Round 1, and I’m waiting for Round 2 offers now. I need brutally honest feedback — do I still stand a chance, or am I completely out of the running?
My Estimated Scores (refined):
Writing = Top 10% (Superior)
Verbal Reasoning = Top 10% (Superior)
Maths = Top 20% (Potentially Superior)
Numerical Reasoning = Top 20%
Reading = Average
So roughly: 2 definite SUPs, 2 Top 20s, and 1 Average
Melbourne High was my first preference.
School Context and My Position:
I attend a normal private school (not SEAL or selective-entry).
Our school has two campuses:
At the other campus, 5 students got in via Round 1.
At my campus, there are only 5 serious applicants:
3 boys (including me) — two are focused on Nossal
2 girls — aiming for Mac.Rob or Suzanne Cory
One boy from the other campus got into Melbourne High already.
The other boys who applied to SEHS this year are maxing out at 1–2 SUPs, and they weren’t highly motivated or focused on getting in.
I’m comfortably in the Top 5 academically at my campus, and no other male applicant from my school was seriously aiming for MHS.
So here’s my actual question:
With 2 SUPs, 2 Top 20s, and 1 Average, and being from a private school with very few serious SEHS candidates...
Do I still have a shot at getting into Melbourne High via Round 2?
Or am I just coping at this point?
Please be blunt and real — I just want to know where I really stand before results drop on July 31st (10AM).
