I have some questions about schs for 2026 yr 10 entry, I would be appreciative if someone can help me answering these:
1) Do we have an interview after passing the test?
2) What tutor should I go for this?
3) For students who already in suzanne cory, do they provide sth related to coding?
=> Thanks a lottttt
Suzanne Cory yr 10 entry 2026
1) Not typically, but 5% of offers are done through a process called principals discretion which does require an application and interview. There are resources and workshops you can do to build confidence for the interview tho so don't stress about it
2) It really depends. Ik people who got in without any tutoring and people who didn't get in with tutoring it rlly depends. If you want to build confidence i'd personally do tutoring I'd just find a place close to you that has a good reputation and satisfies ur needs.
3) I honestly don't know. there's probably something for it in year 11/12. In year 9 there was no coding stuff. In yr 10 you can do info tech??? Idk if that's the kind of thing ur talking about tho
Southwesterly_Adult thanks a lot for your reply. Are u going to Suzanne next yr or u already in suzanne? If u already in can I ask how was the school? Like good or bad or any activities or stuff? (I know it's kind of vague but I hope u get what I mean)
trinh its really good, a tonne of nice people and teachers and it just all comes together to create a really nice atmosphere. A lot of stuff to get involved in extracurricular related and you can get awards by achieving stuff in arts, sports, local community, etc.
On the bad side of things, there have been a lot of changes as of recently that most people dislike such as implementing longer periods and changing up the uniform policy but honestly its not THAT bad (people just like to complain).
But yeah there's tonnes of opportunities to extend yourself and try something new.
ALSO just to clarify, I thought you were talking about year 9 entry but I do think for year 10 most people have to go through an interview if not all of them although it shouldn't be that difficult. Confidence is key and you just need to show them that you belong at the school.
feel free to ask anything else if you need it
Southwesterly_Adult Not all of them need an interview. I didn't need one. Also are u in my grade? I'm going into year 10 2025.
.. maybe...
:): I just had good enough score to not need one. Prob scored like top 1% in mathematics or something. The writing style is a lot easier because they give WAYYY more time, instead of 20mins for persuasive and narrative each, you have 5 mins planning and 30mins writing for either a narrative or persuasive.

.. Do u somehow know approx how many seats were available for yr10 entry in ur year ( i think this yr only?). and do u remember the writing topic u got? Also how long of a text r we expected to write? AND r there any new topics in maths other than the ones in yr9 entry? sorry for asking so many questions hehe..

I think 26-30 spots were available for year 10 entry 2025, around 400ish tried out for it. I barely remember anything from my writing prompt, only that it was a narrative, had a quote and two pictures we had to implement in the story. One picture had a locomotive moving over a valley and the other picture was two individuals with raincoats and backpacks walking with their backs only shown, the quote had something to do with mystery of the unknown or something. They don't expects a specific word count, but they just want a solid and detailed story. In my opinion I would aim for 400-500 words. There are some new topics in the math test, but it was very small amount, and they were basic year 10 topics not complex. Majority of the math test was easy algebra, the main thing that messed people up for the test was prob time management.
.. Can I ask about verbal reasoning, numerical and reading comp? Like how were they? Do the tests similar to past experiences of ppl about Edutest?
Also, if I'm not very good at writing but I score high in other areas, will there still be a chance? Like I'm kinda weak at writing and prob I'll just get average.
