i_need_mental_asylum hey!!

FinFin-3rdYearUni i cannot wait for mid semester break— 1 week with no commute haha. i have 3 assignments due the week after break so i’ll definitely be on top of those. had a bit of a wake up call with my first assignment result (66%) which was disheartening, but i hope i can bounce back from that. enjoy your easter (if you celebrate, or just love chocolate like i do!!)

Don't be too disheartened from 66. It's still a good way to improve. University marking is different to high school, in that it's more based on deeper understanding of the content. For a first assignment, you can use the score of 66, some feedback and tips from your lecturer to score higher. My current benchmark is to aim for at least 70% in every assignment/class, and try to get at least one 80% mark on an essay/presentation for each semester. There's still plenty of time for improvement, and this time you aren't competing in VCE. All that is needed is a 50, and you have the credits for that class, and can move to the next stage, but you should definitely be aiming above 50

FinFin-3rdYearUni yeah absolutely, i always want to aim high but i fear to lower my expectations a tiny bit due to how the marking is so different.
definitely going to get some extra feedback, though the 66% has made me a lot nervous on what i will get next week with 3 assignments being returned 😭

      hi all!

it’s been a hot minute since i’ve updated this, so as i prepare for a HUGE first week back of the second half of semester one, here’s whats new!

i’ll condense the unit talk because nothing much has changed. got HD’s in both my fundamentals of journalism and international human rights units, and a distinction in media + culture. it’s reassuring knowing that one “bad” assessment isn’t an overall indicator of how i’m tracking in uni. other than that, classes are busy with assessments— four due within the next fortnight— so lots of grinding out work the last week, especially during mid semester break.

as i (might have) discussed in previous updates, i do work for mojo news, which is the student publication at monash. i’m involved with the election coverage, and have one pre-recorded package that is airing on channel 31 (44) this saturday! i also have a package i’m recording on the day at polling booths, which i’m working on with someone else, and then heading to the studio at monash to edit all on the same day. so 6 day uni week for me, including saturday. but i get to do what i love, and i am not complaining about that.

with some work in my portfolio now, i want to see if i can land some volunteering at local news publications to get some industry experience before i apply for internships in the not-so-near future, judging how fast the last few months has flown by.

other than that, nothing much else i suppose. i’ve been spending lots and lots of time with my friends which is marvellous because i love and appreciate them so much, and we don’t get to see each other everyday at school like we use to so every moment matters!!

take care everyone!! if you’re voting this election, read up and do research because there’s a lot of bias and misinformation this election.

FH woww! it seems you have a lot on your plate. i'm a little jealous that you're so passionate.
        good job on your assessments!!
good luck on the volunteering and take care :3

dude this is just my journal. please delete this because it goes against the rules and we are trying to harbour a safe community where I can talk abt my favourite artist taylor swift. Identity theft is not a joke 😐
