oh wow it's been a while... hey all!! i am back to uni to do a training session for open day; so while i endure that arduous journey, here is an update ๐
grades were officially released yesterday, so i suppose i'll start with that and then talk about next semester. so for my first semester of uni, i finished on a 77.5 wam and a 3.5 gpa. a breakdown of each unit:
fundamentals of journalism: my best class, finishing on an 83. it was also my favourite unit, being the only journalism-based unit i can take as a first year student. it wasn't overly challenging as it was just theory, but it was a great unit overall.
media and culture: finished on a 74. honestly a surprise because the assessments for the unit were incredibly subjective and was unsure how well i was writing. the final 2000 word essay was a nightmare, but it got done and did well enough to get the 74 for the unit, as it was weighted at 40%.
introduction to international human rights: my second-best and (of course) my second favourite unit, finishing on an 81. it was a fascinating unit, and a real eye opener to how little some of the world has been able to progress in upholding basic human rights.
understanding crime: my worst unit, finishing on a 72. i hated this unit with a burning passion. assessments required AI usage, which i oppose greatly. the content was interesting, but the assessments were not structured to fully showcase understanding of the theory.
now... next semester, which begins in two weeks. i honestly cannot wait, because im a proud nerd and love learning. ill be taking the following units:
- practice of journalism
- human rights and social justice
- criminal justice in practice
- introduction to psychological inquiry
i chose the introduction to psychological inquiry unit as an elective as there is significant overlap with research methods from vce psychology, which makes my life so much easier to be honest. i'll be on campus three days a week, which is awesome because it is one day less than last semester.
as mentioned above, i am volunteering for the open day this year, and have my training day today. ive also been continuing my volunteering at the toy library, which has been so much fun!!
as much as i am excited to return to uni, i will miss not doing anything. catching up with friends has been amazing, and since finishing high school i have really taken every opportunity to see each my high school friends, because it's so hard to see them nowadays.
anywho, that's a really long update. thanks for reading if you made it to the end ๐
