I am the VCE Mathematical Merchant. I am currently selling resources for VCE Methods Units 3/4 and VCE Specialist Units 3/4.

I am aware that there will be a change in the study designs for both Methods 3/4 and Specialist 3/4 Maths starting from next year, however, a large majority of the content will still be the same (such has been the case for both ever since the early 2000s).

For those unaware, VCE Maths Methods 3/4 is undergoing the following changes:

Introduction of a new but small chapter: “Pseudo-code/Algorithmics”
Exclusion of matrices for transformations

VCE Specialist Maths 3/4 is undergoing the following changes:

Introduction of the cross-product (for vectors)
Introduction of surface area for solids of revolution (calculus)
Introduction of integration by parts (calculus)
Inclusion of a new chapter: “Logic and Proof”
Exclusion of the “Dynamics/Inclined Planes” chapter
Inclusion of a new but small chapter: “Boolean Algebra”

Everything else is the same.

Mathematical Methods Units 3/4

For Mathematical Methods Units 3/4 there are 2 packages: (resources are on google drive)

Package A: $45

As Methods is primarily about exposure, on offer will be a series of different organised SACs, tests and assignments from a variety of different schools/organisations (John Monash, TSSM, Balwyn High, MAV, Scotch College, etc) for you to accustom yourself to the harder types of questions and problem-solving abilities necessary for a SAC.

There are over 340 pages of MAV materials and over 60 pages of TSSM resources alone. For the school SACs, there are much more.

I have also included a thick bound reference, including both CASIO and TI-nspire CAS commands/shortcuts, summaries of ALL concepts and tricks in VCE Methods, with many examples too. There is also a section in there that contains the hardest exam 1 and 2 questions from all the VCAA past exams, something which you can use to practice in your spare time.

I have also written my own application task for calculus, which comes with a comprehensive storyline (very similar to JMSS style). It tests the ability to problem solve and apply (a vital aspect of Methods) effectively given a specific context. The theme for it is "The Expandables" (based off the film "The Expendables").

In this package, there is a strong emphasis on the topics of algebra and calculus which will still consist 3/4 of your VCE Methods internal assessments. Therefore, it is imperative you perform as well as you can on those. As I have personally used these resources, I can guarantee that exposure to such questions will yield a very valuable payoff in your assessments and your exams.

Package B: $25

This package includes the full set of exams from each of years 2015-2022 of the 5 (in my opinion) best, reliable and overall most consistent companies. These companies include: Heffernan, NEAP, TSSM, Insight, MAV.

There is also a personally compiled compendium (129 pages) of the most difficult/annoying types of questions that tend to come up on both Methods exams and SACs too, which may prove very useful as practice.

Specialist Maths Units 3/4

For Specialist Maths Units 3/4, there will also be 2 packages: (resources are on google drive)

Package A: $45

This will include a series of tasks, assignments, as well as topic tests from different organisations. As Specialist Maths is quite abstract - particularly on SACs, whereby questions require a strong degree of conceptual understanding and strategic appliance, I have prepared very comprehensive notes and VCAA questions categorised in order of topics from the past 10 years.

Additionally, there will also be 9 thick SAC booklets (over 490 pages in total) of original questions from MAV that have not been released that I would like to share with everyone. Personally, I found this resource to be the most helpful one for Specialist Maths out there, as it covers all the main topics (functions, complex/trig/vector, calculus, kinematics) in great depth, and introduces you to unique out-of-the-box thinking. Coincidentally, it also includes a fair amount of proofs and cross-products, so you’re literally set.

Know also that these topics account for 3/4 of your VCE Specialist Maths internal assessments, so again, it is vital you smash the SACs out!

Package B: $25

There will be 4 companies worth of exams in this pack. They include Heffernan, TSSM, NEAP, and MAV from 2015-2022, which are personally handpicked as the best and most consistent out of all the exam companies.

Remember, you’ll be competing against some of the brightest kids out there, so you’ll need some game-changing resources and someone reliable to back yourself up with.
