Hi, I'm new changed the title to Need advice about my school choices + tuition .

honestly i can't really answer ur first question cs i don't know how the vcaa upscaling thing works. But if ima bfr, i js got into my skls seal program and now its js become hella stressful, like all the kids r toxic, like if u miss a class and need help from a classmate they won't help you because they dont want u to get better than them? (lwk so fucked) There r also kids in my class who r so smart and atp it just puts u down sm, and i found myself draining myself so much like i would go to skl ( ends at 3pm) then go straight to the library ( not even eat anything) and study till 9pm- all bc of the environment and js that feeling of tryna b better than everyone else. In my opinion a competitive environment drains you out completely and I thought that by getting into seal i wouldn't have to do shit but honestly, it puts u down sm js trying to at least pass. I have a few friends who say like people expect like once ur in a sehs skl like all u need to do is skl but the environment drains u out and u suddenly js feel rlly dumb. And in my opinion if you can get a good vce tutoring and js lock in for vce and js do ur best i honestly think u could do way better, i have lots of friends that r in sehs who r doing tutoring for vce so nonetheless even if u r in sehs or in another skl tutoring is a must cs alot of ppl think like once u go into a sehs skl u wont need tutoring but u lwk do. hope this helps n sorry this is a yap.

Heyy, in terms of tutoring I go to contour and it’s amazing, not just for vce , but like all of hs maths. I reckon it’s the best tutoring place, although it’s a bit pricey, but they have sooooi many extra free resources so it’s rly supportive. I’m doinv year 10 maths there and it’s actually so helpful like I was getting a’s when my friends were getting c’s and stuff in maths. I also hv a friends who’s in yr 12 and does chemistry there and she says their sciences r rly good.

right now my tutoring is this obscure asian run place, its not well known but the tutors are a bunch of 99.95s

My tutor is like QS, which is pretty good, but they don't have VCE or VCE prep classes. Should I go mainstream tutor or like Asian tutors that my mum will send me to?

Btw Heathdale is good but my English teacher literally has the biggest Chinese accent and has the teaching capabilities equivalent to reading off a twinkl lesson plan. Some of my friends went to MHS, but I'm just worried I won't integrate as well in yr10. Has anybody gone to a selective school in yr 10 how was ur experience.

It probably depends how you learn the best, like from my experience mainstream ones are usually more prepared and professional, but have a fixed curriculum like school .but the like Asian tutors my mum finds hv been more like specific to what I need help in the most but idk sometimes the teaching feels unprepared

Also, from the people currently going to MHS, I heard the teachers aren't the best at their profession and most of the time students just learn independently. Is this true and does it work well?

Hi, I'm new They yap about "adult learning environments" where they basically give you the work and you have to do figure it out. It sucks sometimes but it works other times, its an on and off thing.
