SEHS yr 10 entry

Hello! I did SEHS in 2024, however, I did not get a place. But I'll share some of my experiences. The main reason I didn't get into SEHS was that I didn't put much effort. However, if you do tutoring or anything, use those resources very well. I did James An College. Compared to their practice tests, the actual test was easier. Most of the questions were basic Year 9 and difficult Year 8 questions. I do not know how the format and test level are this year, but it was quite mid.
The components I struggled really hard with were Reading, Persuasive writing but I excelled in VR. For Reading, I read a lot of books, but I used an app called GMAT Club. It contained good comprehension and maths questions, even for Numerical Reasoning. For Writing, I used prompts from ChatGPT and used its feedback. I also got help from my best friend as she is really good at English. As per books, Mastering Mathematics is a good book for both NR and Maths, but mostly NR. Even though, Verbal reasoning was easy for me, I would search up 15 difficult/new words every week and put them into quizlet, and try to memorize them, then at the end of the week, I write them along with their definitions on a notebook.
But while doing all of these, what is really important is consistency. It may seem really hard, but just hang in there, and don't give up. Surround yourself with people who are always doing SEHS, because it did quite motivate me in some circumstances. Use all of your time and take care of yourself. Good luck to everyone who is taking the test. I hope this helped!
DV78 do u remeber any questions or if u had to do the test again what would you study the most, not if ur urself but urself at this time last year

chxin I tried to refresh my mind, again reading comprehension questions were the hardest for me. But in maths, most of the questions were chill. Like there was only one simulatanous question. One trignometry question, I think. But for VR and NR, I cannot remember. I would actually do practice exams and time myself around this time of the year if I had to take the test again. Usually when you reach around 1-2 months, take practice exams seriously.
_ Tbh superiors do matter, but not four. Because one of my friends got 2 superiors on reading and NR but she did not get in. However my other friend, she got 1 superior on NR and she got into Macrob. I also heard from a guy, that in SEHS mostly english knowledge is looked and judged, rather than Numeracy. However, I am not sure if it's true.

chxin bro you’ll def get in I did similar to u in skl but I put like no effort into it until like two weeks before the test, and before that I spent like an hour a week doing sehs related stuff lol (I didn’t wanna go in I was being forced). I ended up with 3 sups but my skl is rly smart so I didn’t get in
lols im cooked as well, 4 sups, 50-50 chance in getting in. 5 sups- almost guaranteed to get in, but idk if I will get those scores
MHS potential candidate 4 sups should be more than enough unless you have a really smart school
MHS potential candidate u seem pretty smart to me and you’re putting a lot more effort than like 90% of ppl i knew doing it
bro u dont need 4 superiors, in my old skl kambrya there is 450 kids and it is probably 1 of the most competitive skls to get into for sehs, and out of the 18 kids that made it, most of them had 2 top 10s, u dont need 4 top 10s. in fact in nossal i only know 2 people with 4 top 10s.
MauryanBroski Im not saying out of belief, im saying out of facts, people with 4 sups didn't get in, Ik someone who got 4 sups and an avg who didn't get in. Like all the people Ik who got in got all 5 sups

lols for some reason, however I study, I feel like I amputtting in minimal effort
MHS potential candidate same but ig you just have to be rlly focused the whole time
MHS potential candidate what school you go to impacts ur chance of getting in by A LOT. if you do go to a private school most of the students there will decline the offer as they already go to a good school and some have scholarships

MHS potential candidate trust me if ur studying ur putting WAYYY more than minimum effort. I was doing minimum effort and that was legit one hour per week max lol. And lwk everyone feels as if they’re not doing enough
