As a child I always wanted to be an author and illustrator for the most part. At one point I wanted to be a meteorologist or a swimming teacher, but those where quite short lived ahaha. Now I'm not too sure, but I'm really interested in immunology and pharmacology, so possibly something in research or academia/education within the science or human biology field. It's funny because the past I never really wanted to do anything remotely related to human biology or science (except for my short meteorology/weather phase), but my interests have very much shifted and changed over the last two or three years.
Surprisingly, I don't think I had too many career ideas as a kid - but I know that I mentioned I wanted to be a school teacher a few times. Definitely don't want to do school teaching as a career but I do love teaching and working with students.
I think when I was 12 I wanted to be a tennis player. Definitely was not good enough and definitely not something I would have wanted to do full time
I wanted to be a teacher as a kid. I think I still want to be a teacher based on my gut feeling, but there's always a surge of doubt that enters my mind. I also wonder how my life would pan out if I chose something completely different, like some sort of office job, but doing that doesn't entirely sit right with me. I guess I've got the rest of uni to figure it out!
I filtered through a few different career aspirations. Some that come to mind:
EDIT: And I've ended up doing none of them! Haha.
Billzene I'm actually considering doing the masters at either UniMelb or ACU, just because it would probably take less time than transferring to science/education.
At the moment, I'm thinking of teaching general science and psychology, but I'm planning to try out a few business units to see if I wanna teach that sort of area as well.
I never really had a childhood dream job ;;
even during VCE, I chose subjects that I could get into any degree and meet prerequisites if I was to change my mind (hence me choosing methods and chemistry).
Three words: 'A singing plumber';
Like the guy we got in to fix something when I was 6.
I never wanted to do anything when I was a little kid, but I guess now my dream occupation is something in the medical field. So like dentistry, some other medical specialty, or something like that, but knowing my motivation and luck; probably not going to happen.
When I was in kinder I wanted to be a tradie. Then in prep, a teacher.
How times have changed.
Joseph41 When I was younger, my ex-girlfriend and I would always joke about we needed to become doctors or go into the medical field because our parents kept pushing us to do so, and also the fact that she always possessed aspirations to attempt to be the best and challenge herself no matter how unlikely the circumstances were. However, after we got split apart due to me failing to get into the school she got into; her ideology kind of just stuck with me for the last couple years. I can't even imagine her right now if she heard that I was actually trying to become a doctor or something, lmao; talk about not being able to let go of your ex. Other than that, I feel like pursuing medicine is not only challenging to yourself from an academic point of view but also challenging from an interpersonal relations perspective. So I wanted to learn to become more patient with others and be something more than just a guy who can study some what competently.
