What's your favourite book?

Could be something you've studied at school, or something you've just read casually.

For me, I love Keep the Aspidistra Flying by George Orwell. I'm not really sure why - I think the simple writing style just tickled me, and I like the general themes. Straight from Wikipedia:

Gordon Comstock has 'declared war' on what he sees as an 'overarching dependence' on money by leaving a promising job as a copywriter for an advertising company called 'New Albion'—at which he shows great dexterity—and taking a low-paying job instead, ostensibly so he can write poetry. Coming from a respectable family background in which the inherited wealth has now become dissipated, Gordon resents having to work for a living. The 'war' (and the poetry), however, aren't going particularly well and, under the stress of his 'self-imposed exile' from affluence, Gordon has become absurd, petty and deeply neurotic.

Oh this is a thread I can keep adding to...

Everything Agatha Christie ever wrote is a good start. Nothing like a good Poirot or Marple in the middle of winter.

Also Anne of Green Gables. A classic.

SciFi? Currently A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becl Chambers. It just hits right.

YA? Small Spaces by Sarah Epstein. Everyone really slept on this one. Aussie author too.

Call me basic but... I really like the inkheart series by Cornelia Funke. Another one I also really like is Soundless by Richelle Mead. The Folk of Air series, is one I really love by Holly Black. I've even read the side stories as well.
My fav classic series is Anne of Green Gables.
Rn I'm reading I kissed Shara Wheeler and You'll be the Death of Me.

Project Hail Mary written by Andy Weir.

Recently released book but, imo, an instant classic, and instantly became my favourite book. If you love Science and loved reading The Martian, which was also written by Andy Weir, you'll love the hell out of Project Hail Mary.

My favourite is probably Fearless by Tim Lott.

Its quite a short book but its very evocative to the point that it made me literally cry at the end. Its just amazing how it built some much emotion in me in such a short storyline. Its Young Adult Fiction but I would consider it somewhat dystopian as well. Honestly, whatever genre you like, you'll enjoy this one and its a short one anyways so I highly recommend.

My favourite books/comfort reads are Harry Potter and Loveless by Alice Oseman 💜

I just love the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and all the books written by Rick Riordan set in that world.
It might be the history nerd in me but this series carried me throughout my childhood lol. Can't pinpoint one book though, they're all good!

Not too keen on books I've read for school but casually I've loved Christine and From A Buick 8 by Stephen King, as well as The Odyssey by Homer. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is also a good one but has some pretty heavy racial tones.

The kingkiller chronicles are amazing.
There are two books as of yet.
The name of the wind & Wise man's fear by Patrick Rothfuss

They are planned to be a trilogy, but it seems the third book won't come out for a while.

The Three-Body Problem and The Dark Forest by Cixin Liu, I also like Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow. I heavily recommend reading the TBP series, it's really good.
