  • holidays before yr 12 (term 4)

Hi guys!

This is kind of a weird post/question, but I need some advice. My family wants to go on holiday during the term 4 breaks, before year 12, and so do I. But, I'm not too sure how long we should go, or what I should do, etc, so it doesn't impact my year 12 studies. Last year for my 3/4 I used some of my holidays to revise the content I had already learnt, and other stuff. I know we won't be going for over a month, probably like 2-3 weeks, but let me know! Any advice or input is helpful!!

I think you should go and enjoy them. Allocate yourself a week during the holiday break to get the holiday homework you're given sorted (set this prior to your holiday so you have that commitment there - maybe it's even worth doing it before going?). The reason I say enjoy them is because Year 12 a long year - the term breaks throughout the year don't feel like breaks. So really, the summer holidays are the last ones you'll get to enjoy properly until the end of exams.

In the holidays between year 11 and year 12, I actually went to the Great Barrier Reef for 5 days. Since I finished most of my holiday homework before and there was still time afterwards, I didn't really fall behind. If you're going on a very long vacation, you can always bring your holiday homework with you to do when you're waiting for the plane or something (I did this when I went to NZ for 2 weeks during the holidays between term 3 and term 4 in year 9)
