it was higher than my medify mocks but idk if it will get me anywhere
Literature or English!!! HUGE DILEMMA!

Well done, it's done now!
From everything I hear, we just gotta keep grinding. Try to get an exceptional ATAR then we might have chances
doe yes! also, i have a question; are we expected to get a raw atar of 99 to be considered competitive? or can our ATAR be considered like all other atars, even with the bonus points?
ie:
if i get 95 atar and i'm eligible for curtin step up bonus, that means i'll get 5 extra atar points, bumping it up to a 99; will my atar of 95 be considered amongst the other atars, or will my updated atar of 99 be considered for admission amongst other atars??
i hope that makes sense lol

I have seen in the uni course requirements pages it says for example "ATAR of 99 (including any adjustment factors)" so I think it is including any adjustment points
exam season is upon us (at least for me )
Arcadia good luck! mine start 2 october
bruh you got exams in the holidays???
lucky
Arcadia yess but omg we have so much tests and haven't even finished content, only for human bio
anyone else doing casper this friday?
Yupp i am doing casper on friday
Heyo guys
So after wasting 80% of the school holidays for WACE revision it now appears I only have 3 weeks to prepare for the WACE exams (yes im counting to 30 oct which is the date of my spec exam).
my question is, is it possible to get it together in 3 weeks time ready for WACE exams and also achieve a decent ATAR hopefully 98+ (my predicted In sem 1 was 96.35)
i would think it's possible! just do a lot of practice stuff and you could achive a higher atar. it depends on how you did on your mocks/school grade, though, so maybe think about it and actually consider if you can get a wace exam mark way higher than your school grade atm to work towards that
also would I be disadvantaging myself by prioritising my top 4 subjects rather than focusing equally on my 5 ATAR. This is bc my marks look like this
spec - 75
lit - 83
methods - 82
physics - 63
chem - 55
so obviously my chem grade is atrocious and I only need to pass it for my prerequisite. Would u recommend just doing the bare minimum or prioritise it as equally as everything else bc obviously u don’t know how hard or easy the WACE exam for a subject can be
- Edited
normally my exams drag my averages down but this time I actually think the mocks pulled my averages up for all my subjects (even chem lol)
except lit. i dont understand lit
Arcadia i'm doing 5 too, and english is my lowest grade so i understand what you mean because i only need it to graduate lol. i personally don't focus too much on the subject because i know that i'll never be able to make it one of my top 4, so i just review it when it comes to exam time, but that obviously doesn't work for chem.
i would still focus on it somewhat because 55 is a dangerous grade between passing and failing, so if you can pull off a little study for over 60 that would be good, but just don't spend that much time on it as your other subjects if you know they'll be your highest.
in short just make sure you know your grade won't dip down for wace
yeah I go back to school on Monday so once I get my chem mock back and I know my final average I’ll calculate what I need to get in WACE for at least a 60 average
so far got 3/5 of my mocks back.
Spec - 78
Methods - 83
Chem - 61
Pretty good especially for methods and Chem where I only studied for 2 days before the exam. Pretty salty about spec tho cos I spent a week doing practice exams and questions (gonna get a B with 77 avg again )
Arcadia that's so good! i get mine back tmr and i KNOW that english and chem are going to be the death of me ugh
btw if you do lit do you not need to do english?
oop assessment outlines back up so now I know all my marks
Physics - 76
Lit - 88 (dux time oh yeaaaa)
Yes if u do lit u don’t need to do English. There is an option available to do both which I did in yr11 and was a 2/10 experience

Hi, current year 12 here, so I did year 11 literature then transferred to english, I'm so glad I did.
I was averaging about 50-60% in year 11 literature and now I'm averaging about 80% in year 12 english.
So making the switch definitely benefitted me, I would constantly be told "you write like an english student", and despite trying to learn the supposed lit way of writing I never did well. In my opinion english is easier because I found the content alot clearer, less vague and understandable. I believe for most course prequisites you just need a form of english which could be english/literature/english language/EAL. In the end it's up to you, I found yr12 english alot easier than yr11 literature
haha you are almost one year too late my friend
everyone on this thread is currently in yr12
