  • Literature or English!!! HUGE DILEMMA!

I didn’t apply for curtin cos my school isn’t step-up

also my predicted ATAR plus ucat score werent competitive enough so I definitely wouldn’t have been shortlisted for interview no matter how stellar my Casper score was 🙁

    Arcadia ohh makes sense
do you know anyone or have you heard of cases where ppl who didnt get into first round interviews got into 2nd round? i'm new to this and idk who to ask

apparently there is no second round of interviews for UWA

But there is for curtin so there’s hope for us (except me) yet

Arcadia yeah i would rather curtin over uwa, but my question is do you know anyone who got 2nd round but didnt get 1st round?

      6 days later

Idk man my friend with 84th UCAT and 96+ predicted ATAR didn’t get an interview

But i do want to ask how many points does Step-up curtin give bc u might end up with a really competitive ATAR like 99+ then u might get an interview as long as you did good for CASPER as well I think?

sorry idk anyone who got in second round

      howwww??
it gives 5 points if your atar is above 70 and youre on the list of schools
idk bc someone told me that they first look at the raw atars that are higher than yours before they add on the bonus points

Well im not sure for curtin but for UWA they add on the +5 for Broadway regardless. I know because my predicted (97.45 in y11 sem 2 and 96.35 in y12 sem 1) were nowhere near the minimum of 98. So with the extra points given I was able to be considered for admission. It would make sense for Curtin to have a similar approach imo. Plus there are not as many strong students as you think from Broadway/Step-up schools so a lot of the ATARs even with the +5 aren’t really competitive.

As long as you get 95+ as a WACE atar I think you might be fine.

Also this is pasted from the curtin website:

‘If your ATAR is 70 or above, and you’re eligible for StepUp, you will receive five additional points, up to 99.95’

yeah but that still doesnt make sense for my case. my year 11 predicted atar, based on 2022 atar results, was around 90-91. if they added 5 points it wouldve been 95-96, which could have been considered for 1st round interview offers esp bc my casper score isnt bad. i dont understand why they didnt consider me.
right now i think my predicted (based on atarnotes calculator) is 95 so hopefully it stays like that after wace exams

yea that’s because your ATAR wasn’t competitive enough like mine also why my friend didn’t get in with 96+ predicted (he didn’t have step up like you did) so the chance of first round interview offers would be slim

However the second round interview offers are based on your actual final WACE ATAR which is why I said above that 95+ WACE with step-up should be enough.

Hope you manage to get the ATAR you need!! 😊

hi again! i hope ur interviews went well !! I was just wondering, what did you guys use to prepare for UCAT? what did you find that worked best?

        sammy

I used medify although I have heard that medentry is better

With a week and a bit to go until ATARs are released does anyone want to predict theirs?

and also what are you guys planning to study next year at uni?

OMG I COMPLETELY FORGOT TO COME BACK HERE!!! So much has happened in between 😱

          Arcadia
I honestly can't believe time has gone this fast, and I can't believe we are getting our ATARS back so soon! I think I am more scared for the results than the actual exams 🙁
I am hoping for med or dent next year at uni, would absolutely prefer Curtin or UWA, but would be happy if I got interstate (Though expenses are gonna be through the roof, so really hope I get in WA). This scares me even more cos so much depends on my ATAR
Guys this is actually so nerve-wracking!!!!!

          Arcadia
BAHAHA rightttt and that was a whole year ago now, and I still don't know if choosing lit was the right option lmao

          sammy
Both Medify and Medentry were good, I think Medify was more similar to the actual exam, but Medentry was a bit harder so it prepared you well. If I had to choose between medify or medentry, I would go Medentry.

P.S sorry for replying to months worth of posts

@doe did you go to the interviews for med/dent at UWA last week
