Thank you so much! I have completed the exam, just relaxing right now. I found the Maths and Numerical tough, but the rest of the test went pretty well.

      numerical was definitely the hardest

NSN didn't they change numerical to quantitative?? Also what are the topics most covered in the math one, is there a lot of linear Algebra? Anyway I hope you get into the school you want.

Hi Everyone! Just wondering about the different session times. Do we all respond to the same prompt for the Creative/Persuasive Writing section? Assuming yes. Also, did people feel prepared for NR & Mathematics General Ability because I definitely feel like I was not? Thanks.

            V!

For the Maths and Numerical they were mostly familiar topics, but solving them was quite tough. For the writing session, yes I think we all did respond to the same prompt.

Yes, you are correct. It is quantitative reasoning and it falls under the 'general ability' category.
In the maths paper, there was only about 1-2 questions on linear questions. Algebra was more common. There was also probability, fractions, interpreting graphs and geometry recalling from my memory.
Thanks, and I hope this was helpful to you 😁

Thanks, I'm just curious what you did to prepare for the exam, did you do James An or any course for the entrance exam??

              Mira284

Yes I did JamesAnn. I also did a course in Melbourne Tutorials. Both are good for preparation.

NSN Ah I see, tutoring is so damn expensive though, I'll probably fail.

Don't worry, your parents will take care of that 😉.
You just have to study. Also - don't think badly about yourself. Trying and failing does not make it a failure.

Tutoring is out of the question, I think I have a good chance of getting into at least my second preference, because I have no academic competition at my current school. That sadly means i have no way to determine how smart I am compared to others. I if I continue to study hard I should at least get into nossal, (2nd pref)

Also I saw on the Victorian website it says that a maximum of 4 percent of students can be accepted from one school into any selective school. Does this 4 percent mean like 4 percent of the total number of people who get accepted, or 4 percent of people who take the exam from my school.

                    Mira284
The 4% rule means that only 4% of kids in one year level at a school is allowed to get into any of the 4 selective schools. So if there are 200 kids in Year 8 at a school, no more than 8 students can be accepted into any selective school.

is anyone else scared but like they dont think they can get over this until the results come out?
the first offers come out in august right?

                      DarkPhantomA

I feel the same way as you. And yes - the offers for the first round come out in August. The offering process ends in October. I am more stressed than ever!

DarkPhantomA hi guys i did the test last yr and the first round of offers come out in around September and then there should be another round of offers in november or december. so basically dont loose hope until around the 6th of december if u dont get one in september.
