jinx_58 hi medicine or engineer are the only option because of my parents. now I haver to decide which one to do. just give me details if you have about each course I don't want anything else.

Think very hard about medicine before you apply: do you like people? Are you empathetic? Could you cope with a patient in ED who is suffering a mental health crisis? How do you feel about working nights and weekends? Find out about career progression within medicine - it's many years of training and exams (that cost $$$) before you can apply for a speciality. Eventually the money is good but it is a long time before you start earning a decent wage for the amount of effort and study you will need to put it. In your first year of being a junior doctor, the nurses will be earning more than you and working fewer hours. I would only recommend medicine if you have an absolute passion for it and can't imagine yourself doing anything else with your life.

Ash444 are there any particular reasons why you want to follow one of these careers over another, or over other similar careers (i.e. within these fields)? Have you considered a career that involves both medical studies and engineering (e.g. engineering and biomedical science combined)?

MaKa32 im seriosly passionate about boxing and thinking of going pro when I turn like 21 or 22. I cannot imagine myself studying every time. I have to live my life and travel and do my hobbies

jinx_58 what work do you do in engineering ? how much free time do you have ? are you happy ? are there depressed students in engineering ?

but I also want to help people because I love when people become happy. so that's the hard part. both have their pros and cons but I want to decide once and for all.

I think engineers have a more eased time but compared to doctors that make less money. If u want to retire soon I would chose a doctor to play it safe but if u want to be working for a longer time with an eased lifestyle an engineer would suit u. Hope this helps

How about medical physics? Like optometry or radiography

Mina I just want to have enough time to train for my passion which is boxing. I don't mind working a lot as long as I don't have to compromise

What type of doctor would u want to be if u chose that field. From there i can calculate how much time u’ll have for boxing. And what r u leaning towards rn

Mina I would want to be a neurosurgeon. I am thinking of going pro in boxing when I turn around 21 or 22 which is gonna be 4 or 5 years after I complete year 12. after turning pro I am thinking of signing the olympic contract

Ash444 It takes around 14 to 16 yrs to become a neurosurgeon

Maybe if u got a bachelor degree and became a GP u could be able to still pursue boxing

Does ur family have any preferences

Mina yeah . wait do you automatically become a gp once you get bachelor degree ? but if I want to specialise I can't work right ? I would have to do full time specialisation course ?

Mina both of my parents want me to become a doctor. my brother says do what you love, doesn't matter what

Yes u become a go automatically with a bachelor degree
