g4rl1cg1rl Hey. I just realized I don't need to include the word introduction in the title and can't change it. 😭. Can you tell I am inexperienced with this website.
All good tho. My journal will just be called introduction (:

If you like, mods can change it. Please let me know if you want to change the title and what to change it to. 🙂

AngelWings changed the title to joey's vce journey journal! .

g4rl1cg1rl wow, your EI ideas are amazingly detailed, and i definitely did not have nowhere near as detailed of questions as you (so don’t doubt yourself you are definitely starting strong). are you leaning towards an experiment based report or a literature review?

g4rl1cg1rl yeah my teachers told our class the same - that ideas will always change. and that’s honestly something i do not want to endure, because i hate uncertainty… and my topics already changed 4 times (i’ve been working on this since november because my in-person school started orientation then and wanted me to start EI too).

g4rl1cg1rl "the topic MUST be small"
we were told this too. in my own journal, some EI people have said 4000 words seem like a lot but it really isn’t, let alone having to present a whole years worth of work in around 10 minutes. watch me be talking a million miles an hour when i have to present.

i am definitely, no doubt about it, doing an experiment. literature reviews seem really tedious and boring, which is something i do not want to do. i feel as if an experiment will keep me engaged, and help avoid reading a gazzilion articles because, lets admit it, they are B O R I N G.

g4rl1cg1rl HONESTLY. because then i have to google all the words AND I FEEL SO DUMB.im just grateful these papers link other papers in the references... makes it sk easier than searching catalogues.

g4rl1cg1rl wow, you have done so much EI work. to be honest, i am definitely way more intrigued with your research topic than my own, considering i’ve done absolutely NOTHING since mid-december (?). this sorta reminded me i better get going with my own EI work, which has made no progress as i mentioned.

you’re topic really interests me on the basis of china being really conservative, dare i say communistic, where queer ideology is a really thorny topic because it goes against many of those citizens beliefs. but in saying that, i just spent 10 minutes on google and found ancient colonisations, like you mentioned, that were quite queer - i even learnt that homosexuality was banned for a 20 year period (yikes). factors like a severe way to disrespect your family in china is by not having children can be another contributing factor. i don’t wanna sound teacher-y but you’ve really developed an intricate topic and as i said, i am definitely more interested in yours.

if you ever want to send through your work for me to proof-read or get an opinion, i’m more than happy to peer review in my procrastinating hours T-T. can’t wait to hear about your EI journey this year!

g4rl1cg1rl That actually sounds so interesting. I’ll preface this with saying i’m neither Chinese nor an expert on China, but could it also be a factor of Chinas goal to be monogamous in all aspects be one. The so called “perfect” Chinese worker must have an opposite gender spouse with a singular child (One China Policy). I don’t agree with it at all, but it could be a reason for the recent crack down on homosexuality!

g4rl1cg1rl WHAT YOUR EI SAC IS NEXT WEEK!? NEXT. WEEK? WHY SO EARLY!?

g4rl1cg1rl it sounds like you are in the exhaustion stage of the general adaptation syndrome (i’m joking please don’t virtually kill me). i really hope you feel better — it’s so hard to feel good when there’s so much stress.

what novel/ text are you studying for english?

g4rl1cg1rl Year 12 can definitely be pretty awful, I'm sure you've got this for your SAC, can I ask what's got you so stressed? (no pressure if you don't want to share)
Hopefully after tommorow your stress dies down a little and maybe year 12 can start to suck a little less

g4rl1cg1rl HEY LET THE EI SLAY AWAY BECAUSE EI DOESN'T USUALLY SLAY T-T. what is your framework topic for creating texts?

g4rl1cg1rl OMG SAME. after seeing the other topics i am super relieved that i got protest too.

How does doing Extended Investigation feel like?

  • FH replied to this.

Chibby short answer. hell. nah it isn’t too bad — it is extraordinarily tedious when it comes to reading academic papers, but as we get to choose a topic of our interest, it is easy to stay engaged.

g4rl1cg1rl OMG how is EI going? had a breakdown last night after my pilot study flopped and had to redo all the interview questions T-T

    g4rl1cg1rl I'm disappointed 😍. I got an 80

THIS is the most realest thing of all time. im really sorry for the horrific score… hopefully you can get above an A next time T-T.

so i’d assume you’re doing a literature review now? i regret wanting to do interviews despite them being the most useful form of data collection for my research, because i HATE talking to people lmao. and i love how we are so different in EI… i dread doing the work and sort of flopping, but my grades are considering “high-ish” which is surprising. but i agree, academic writing is so appealing for nothing.
