  • Victorian Selective Entry Exam 2024 (Help)

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if anyone would mind providing me with a few of their SEHS Examination resources (i am writing the exam this year), and it would mean a lot to me if someone were to help me out in making me get into my dream school. I primarily struggle with creative writing and verbal reasoning, so it would be nice if someone could supply me resources primarily on those 2 modules (however i would be truly grateful if resources for the other tests were given as well 🙏). As i have tried out the resources from multiple blogs from the ATAR Notes discussions, i still feel like i require more unique and distinct resources and preparation in the few remaining days leading up to the exam. Thank you for taking the time to read through my post, and i hope I am not asking for too much from you guys.

Hello!, do you attend a competitive school? Also good ways to improve vocab is by changing passive words to active ones.

MMHS Well I've got around 20 kids applying from my school including me (13 boys and 7 girls give or take), so i guess i have a good chance of making it in, altho i feel like i require more preparation in order to increase the chances of me being offered a place in a seh school (thank you for the verbal tip by the way, it truly means a lot 👍).

there needs to be more than 500 kids in your yr 8 cohort to guarantee all kids in your school can get in if they all have good scores.

MMHS Around 60 students, so i'm assuming 6 max will get in (altho it could be 7 bc of equity and pd + they explicitly stated that they'll round the percentage of the number of offers given). If ur wondering how that many students will get in from my skl, it's a P-9 so the 10% acceptance rate kicks in instead of 4%.

MMHS Well, ig it's better than some of my other friends' skls, they have around 300-500 students participating in the sehs exam for yr 9 entry

Make sure that you don't get too overconfident (not in a mean way) about the high acceptance rate because ultimately you will need at least 3 superiors to get in.

        11 days later

MMHS wait if you only have 4 kids isnt it guaranteed you all get in

Ronaldo I don’t think it’s a guaranteed but if you all did well there is a possibility of everyone getting in. Idk to be honest but this is what I think happens or smt🙂

MMHS ye so i reckon your first pref is suzanne second mhs so i reckon to get a spot and offer for suzanne you would need 2-3 superiors and if 4 people from your school try out that means that only 1 get sin right

Not necesscarily. So, according to the 4% rule, only 4% of students from one school can get accepted, meaning, if everyone got all superiors, they could only take 4% of them, thus ruling out the other kids. Do i have a higher chance of getting in, maybe, i don't know, but the thing is I still have to perform well to get in. Also, keep in mind, its not definite that getting 2-3 sups will get me in because it all depends on the cohort, because its the top 11% of kids get the superior meaning if the average for the math test for example is like 20/35 because it was hard, then if I get a 30, I will get that superior, same thing if the average is 4/35 for arguments sake. If everyone in my school gets superiors then everyone is almost guaranteed to get in bc there if 260 kids in my cohort meaning that around 10 kids could get in MAX.

MMHS wait so if i have around 250 kids in my cohort and 7 of us try out because i didnt try out for high achievers bc i forgot but all my friends didnt forget does that mean if only 8 people try out and we all get good marks theres a chance that we all might get in

                Ronaldo
whats high achievers? Also yes if you all do well then you should all get in i think

MMHS high achievers is like an accelerated class that studies subjects 1 year ahead so if you are in year 8 you study year 9 and i made a dumb mistake not doing the test for it

Oh, alr, yeah being in an accelerated class shouldn't have any impact on the overall marking scheme bc i find that unfair. I hope it doesn't affect it.
