A! Hello, I found out on Tuesday that I was offered a place to Macrob and I can't decide whether I want to go or not. Currently, I go to a school in the northern suburbs 5 mins from my house which is very convenient. I have to say that my current school is not very good however I am very settled. My best friend for 6 years goes there and I'm very involved in music and my school production which I love. However macrob is a very good school which from what I've heard seems like a good fit for me. As well as this, I'm worried I won't form strong connections at macrob as I don't have amazing social skills. I was just wondering what other people think I should do. Thank you <3

aih firstly dont worry about social skills, everyones on the same boat as you! secondly, if you want t go you can go, however if you prefer to stay at ur old school then thats always ok too. infact, at the start/durng the school year, sehs students actually leave to go back to their old schools so if ur not happy abt it, u can always leave !

aih So sorry everyone for not replying! I got locked out of my account so I'm going to do lots of answering now.
For everyone wondering "Should I go to Mac.Rob or not because I've got a great school at the moment" here is a pros and cons list (in my opinion) of why you should go to Mac.Rob.
Pros:

Enrols some of the friendliest girls you will ever meet, no need to worry about judgy people here (with some exceptions!)
Great & NUMEROUS extracurricular opportunities. Internal clubs, external sporting events (soccer, netball, cricket, cross country, athletics, hockey, ultimate frisbee + more), debating, volunteering, school plays etc.
Strong music programs. (Don't participate in them myself but from observation, that is the case.)
I find, even if the teachers aren't excellent, the resources that have been curated overtime definitely are! They really help guide my learning.
The school wants you to succeed so they put lots of funding into giving you resources that will ensure this! Enough so to rival any private school (at least my old one, that is.)
Location. The school is in the city, nestled amongst all the fancy private schools- what more could you want? Live out your gossip girl dreams!
Cons:
The commute, never is and never will be fun.
Assessments are frequent but not too difficult.
You may find aspects about the school that don't compare as well to your old one but not everything can be perfect! (Think facilities mainly.)

hi, just found out I got accepted into macrobs yesterday and have some questions to decide whether to accept the offer or not! is the travel worth it? and what do people who want to play sports do since the travel eats up a lot of their afternoons? it would take me around an hour to get there. what sports are offered at macrob (extracurricular, competitive?)? what are the clubs like? thanks.

aru Yeah I do a lot of sports outside of school but I'm worried if I have to quit the sports program at Macrob won't be that good.

aru not a student but a sibling goes to mhs. he usually wakes up at 6am and comes back at 5/6pm. we live 30km away too so it takes around an hour to get there 🙂 hope this helps a bit

EDIT: i forgot u asked if it was worth it. if ur truly looking for a competitive school environment or js rlly want to go, then go for it! u can always leave if u dont like it. while i dont know how far away you live, i would say that if you leave at around 8am or 7:45am you would get there on time (unless u live close by). also remember that it takes slightly longer to get back home than arriving, and you most definitely get homework so unless u want to sacrifice free/study time, make sure you can get home at a good time 👍️

mizuki i find that a bit dim though, if sehs students leave, that's on them bc they could've weighed up all that they had to do (like travel and transport wise a few other things also) earlier when they were given the offer and could have accepted or declined

Moonlight_31 ahh, my brothers in vce currently and we live in a pretty ghetto place so yeah lol also he has crazy sleeping & stress problems (i dont think its bc of mhs but who knows) so he doesnt even go to school as often

MMHS i mean this is why year 10 admissions exist too, because people might not like how the school actually is. also, public transport is bloody bipolar, ive missed trains bc they came early or js straight up cancelled 😭 also like most comments, they seem to enjoy their current schools

NOSSALSUCCESSBUTNOTGOING precisely. not direct but remember this is a school for "academically gifted" students. they expect much more than regular public schools (but get less money LMAO) and maybe around year 9 (mainly year 10) is when school is much harder and important
