also a side note, i do recommend writing essays on different prompts that are similarly related to global (current) issues and giving it to your teachers to mark, for me, it helped me a lot (went to a private school so eh)
when doing prac tests, remember to time yourself, and go over the wrong questions and retry them.
when you do manage to get a good score in a certain time frame, reduce the time by 3-5 mins, then see how you go.
what you are aiming for is both accuracy and speed, and if you can achieve both, you most definitely can get in the school
