𝖉𝖍𝖗𝖚𝖛𝖎❦ What if my extracurriculars are

  • a founder of a small book club at my school
  • be able to play flute in a senior band at my school.
  • having a grade 6 ABRSM piano certificate
  • accompanying piano for the choirs at X church (sometimes I get paid as well, also is it count at community service?)
    => Are these enough since they are all music except for the book club one. Btw how can I apply for VHAP? I heard it is for smart people but some ppl in my class they not very smart (well at least their score is not very outstanding) but they still get invited? Do u know how this works? Also can you plssss help me more specifically with my extr? T-T Thank you so muchhhhh

      trinh yeah omg ofc, so i acc did vhap for english in yr 7 i think you get nominated by ur teacher (for either english or math) so basically all i did was get good grades and always participate in class like put ur hand up and if the teacher asked us to share our work i would always share mine, I would also always reach out to my teacher for extension stuff. But in my opinion I think the more extracurriculars u have the better. I think they also have to be relevant to the year you're currently in and the previous year (so achievements from year 8/9) . Since your extracurriculars r all music I think u should try out for some based in english, maths, science ect. You wanna basically look like an all-rounded person cs sticking to js music may make the school want to think that its best if you join a school that is better in music if yk what i mean. Tbh im js gonna join a whole bunch of clubs when i go back to skl this year and im gonna try to participate in a lot of what my skl offers, and a lot of stuff outside of skl.

        trinh yeah i dont have many so far but im doing elms (seal), Maths and science olympiad, Class captain, I also was a captain in year 6, Im currently running art classes w a friend of mine, I do violin, cello, guitar, Im in strings orchestra, i do netball, VHAP, I did ICAS this year (got a high distinction). Yeah thats all i have from last year n this year so far but i wanna do more. Btw im doing year 10 entry this year for macrob this year for 2026 entry.

                        asianasen Was he selected for the interview tho?

                          something he didnt tell, but he did say he did not get into nossal for yr 10 entry

                            asianasen can you ask help what did he get on other part as well because if you get superiors but other parts u get below or average u will still not get in (I think). Also can u try to ask if he could get an interview with that score?

                                asianasen Nossal don't do interviews for year 10 and 11 entry.

                                    .. 'Enrolment positions at Years 10 and 11 are limited as they depend on vacancies arising at the end of the previous year. Students interested in applying for a vacancy into Year 10 or 11 will need to sit an entry exam which will be held at Nossal High School during the previous year in Term 2 or 3. A waiting list will then be created and eligible students will be invited to attend an interview with the Principal should a vacancy arise.'

                                          asianasen ohh shi. My friend said that nossal didn't do interview cus he did year 10 entry for nossal. mb got my info wrong

                                            IMO once your in year 10 focus on vce not selective entrance exam for year 11 since at the end of the day going to a certain school wont matter compared to a vce score if your planning to go for uni

                                              honestly, there really is only one school i know for year 11 entry, and that's ebss (Elizabeth Blackburn science school), which really isn't worth it if you manage to get into jmss, since you dont get to focus on your vce subjects much

                                                  n1khilNossal fax. Unless your some athlete trying to get into a sports academy or something.

                                                    Dosanjh (NHS) Not really, most people who try out are people who didn't make a Selective school or JMSS. And a lot of the people who are smart enough to make have the right judgement to focus on VCE instead of EBSS. Also, even if your smart enough to make it and do the test and make it. The switch up in schools and not fitting in can definitely affect you especially if you're accelerating because your switching school when your starting 3/4s.
