Hi everyone!!
Can someone please help with this question in Methods Book:
A four-digit number (with no repetitions) is to be formed from the set of digits {0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7}. Find the probability that the number:
a) is even
I approach this question with four blanks ___ ___ ___ ___
If a number is even it can end with 0,2,4 or 6
Case 1: Ends with 0
7 X 6 X 5 X 4
Case 2: Ends with 2,4, or 6
6 X 6 X 5 X 4
= 1560 ways
The total ways of creating a number would be:
7 X 7 X 6 X 5
=1470
Probability = 1560/1470
which is not possible
The solutions say the answer is:
25/49
How?
I am so confused.
Please help.
Thank You so much!!
