I’m not sure of the exact dates for the remaining rounds of offers but I think your results definitely give you a chance isa ; with others having received the offer with your results as Randomhuman24 said and the capacity at your school not having been filled yet.

Also keep in mind that the offers process is very convoluted and ultimately unfair to some people. It’s clear that there is a lot more to it than raw results and the 4% rule - I know others at my school who missed out with better results than mine. In case that you do miss out, the results are very likely out of your hand.

Good luck πŸ™‚

    Hi all,
My daughter had her interview at McRob for a PD today and I just want to share the questions that were asked because they might be useful for people who get an interview in later rounds.

Principle and assistant principle were in the panel.

    The questions that were asked;

    Tell me about yourself.
What high school are you from?
How would you describe your family?
    Who do you look upto?
What is your favourite subject? Why
What is your least favourite subject? Why
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Why should we give you a seat in this school?
Do you participate in any sport?
Do you play any musical instruments?
Have you been involved in leadership roles?
Tell me about a time when you help someone.
Tell me what was your gratest point in life.
What is the book that you last read? Why? Describe some interesting facts from the book.
Do you have any questions for us?

They said β€œIf your child would like to bring a portfolio of achievements etc along to share with the panel that is possible, but not essential.”
My Daughter brought her portfolio and good thing is, she could share her portfolio at the end.

    Good luck!!

You have a chance but it really depends on the school you go to.
    I got into Nossal with
    Verbal - High Avg
    Numerical - High Avg
    Reading - Superior
    Maths - Above Avg
    Writing - High Avg

I got lower scores than you and I got in so I think your school really counts on this one. The school that I go to barely has any teachers and some of the VCE subjects are taught by different CRTs so I think that's why I got in. If your school isn't super academic I think you'll get in but if it is then your chances might be on the lower side. Still have hope though. I hope you get in!

Ommahp Wait why does the school play a factor in whether or not someone gets in? I thought only the 4% rule was considered

I'm not 100% sure but I think it's like if you go to a super academic school like Haileybury for instance, they obviously will be more academically focused than a rural school. This is going to be kind of hard to explain but if you go to a academic school you're probably taught hard maths and stuff but if you go to a rural or small school, you're probably self taught. I think selective schools take that into consideration and also like your ranking in your class or year level, it's obviously easier to be ranked higher in a less academic school than an academic school if that makes sense. Take everything I say with a grain of salt but I think your school matters to an extent. I could've also possibly gotten into Nossal with my scores because I'm in the Equity Consideration Category but I'm not entirely sure how much it matters unless there's too many students in that category. Hope that sort of made sense.

uhm my school has alot of kids but overaall it is a pretty academically low school so idrk but tysm you gave me hope. have a great day and hope you enjoy it at nossal!

Hey guys! I got accepted into Nossal as first round offer this year!!! I'm really happy and I actually did a lot better than I was expecting, but GOD WAS NUMERICAL SO HARD!!!!!

          My scores were:
          Reading comprehension: Superior
          Mathematics: Superior
          Numerical reasoning: Superior
          Verbal reasoning: Superior
          Written expression: High average

I'm really excited to meet yall who got in next year!!!!!! I'm quite disappointed for my friends however who didn't make it in though who still did really well, it's strange how people who did lower than others that I know got in even though there were still spots open for my schools intake.

monket That's what I got as well!! Congrats!
And yeah that's so weird, like a girl in my school got super good but she didn't get in while people from other schools got in with less.

              monket
Congrats on getting in! It's sad how your friends couldn't get in though. I feel super lucky coz my best friend is coming with me to Nossal which is great because my social skills are like non-existent so at least I have someone to talk to there.

Ommahp Yeah, it does sort of suck for me but I do have two others from my class (and both of those being pretty close with me) so it's not worse case scenario either πŸ™‚ I also do have a friend from when I did JAC who made it in

Nutella Yeah I just was reading through all this and it's so strange to see how people who did a lot worse than others from my school got in to selective school though the kids from my school still didn't. My school is also generally quite low performing and we still have 6 more spots that could be filled (as per the 4 percent rule). Oh well

Just curious but how long will it take for all of you to get to your selective schools if you're using PTV? It's going to take me a bit more than an hour to get to Nossal but I know people that have to take over an hour and a half of PTV to get to school. MHS and Macrob might be easier to get to for some people coz they're in the city but Nossal is basically rural. It's kind of interesting that it's literally in the middle of nowhere and one of the closest things there is a highway that leads to the countryside. I wonder why they chose to build it there.

Ommahp I'm going to Mac Rob and it'll take me about 45 mins of PTV to get there. So that's like an hour and a half each day .-.
