2022 Victorian Selective Entry Test Results
- Edited
Basically the first round of offers (on the 7th of September) is when most of the students who are offered get accepted. The following rounds (this year there are five as opposed to 3 previously) are the offers which are rejected in the previous rounds.
For example, if there were hypothetically 1000 offers delivered in the first round, and 200 were rejected by the students, then there would be 200 offers in the second round to be distributed to the next 200 students as per their ranking. This process repeats until all the offers are handed out by December (exact date can be found in DET information pack).
Keep in mind that other factors like the 4% rule also play into this.
Equity consideration offers (10% of offers) follow a similar process but independently to the main group (85% of offers).
The PD offers (5%) follow a slightly different process, where students are selected throughout the year based on principal’s discretion. You would be offered a PD during the offers process if you missed out by 5 marks or less to be offered a position typically.
While I’m not totally sure about the specifics regarding the PD (details like the 4% rule, order of preference, opportunities if rejected in future rounds), it would be a good idea to contact the select entry unit about this directly.
Good luck to everyone with your offers and looking forward to receiving our results on the 23rd!
salma_7052 can you explain .......... "( this year there are five as opposed to 3 previously)"
Please
I got accepted into Mac Rob!!! Does anyone know when we'll get more information about it cause I can't find anything on their website regarding anything
Who else got in??
Normally, in previous years, the offers are delivered in three rounds (I.e. offers that were rejected by the highest ranking students in round 1 are delivered to the next highest group of students who missed out in round 2. If a person rejects their offer in round 2, then it goes to another person during the time that offers are distributed again in round 3)
This year, though, there are 5 rounds, meaning that this process is repeated two more times (there is a round 4 and a round 5 now) to ensure that as close to every spot is filled as possible.
Hope that makes more sense!
I got an offer as well
We should hopefully be getting an email with more administrative school info/ language selections etc closer to the end of the year (November, from what I’ve heard in previous years).
I also found that their YouTube channel has some great resources if you’re looking to check out some extracurriculars/ programs they have on offer.
