ind191 For the interview process, I believe that you should be yourself. By that I donât mean to be completely relaxed. Some nervousness is fine. However, you should show that you have a true passion for science through your answers. During the group activities, it is recommended that you listen actively to your group members, ask questions and try to be to inclusive. This year, my group and I had to use different materials to create a path for the ball to reach the other side. To stand out in these types of activities, you should be optimistic even if the ball didnât reach the other side. This shows that you have a growth mindset, which is a key factor in the selection process from what I have heard. In group activities, you should take initiative. But, do not speak over anyone else and make sure everyone feels heard. In the actual interview, the interviewer asked me about extracurriculars, career plans, grades and how I spend my weekends. It is important that you donât show off and give realistic answers. For example, donât say âI study all day during the weekend.â Instead, you should seem like you have a life outside of school. For career plans, it is recommended that itâs science related. We also had to submit a resume. The interviewer will look at your resume while interviewing you and will ask questions about your resume. Make sure you are prepared. Try include everything in your resume, even if it isnât science related. The interviewer will also ask you about any current science related issue that youâre interested in, your favourite scientist and why you like them. Make sure you are well prepared for this. The interviewer will ask why you want to join John Monash. For this question, itâs extremely important that you donât talk bad about the school your going to right now. Instead, you could say âAlthough, my current school has an excellent learning environment, I think John Monash will challenge me and help me pursue my passions for science.â I didnât do any prior coaching for the entrance test, but I did have Hendersonâs interview coaching session and advice from a year 10 friend. Donât take my advice too strong, because you should be yourself!
