Wow, you have some great awards there!
Honestly, I didn't really stand out but I somehow got in.
Also the fact I got abysmal scores in English..
Now that I figured it out, I'm pretty sure they are trying to find your strong passion for science. Like I yapped a lot about science so I feel like that gave me the upper hand. But as you mentioned before, a great personality plays a key role here.
cshar
Insane....
All I put was Scienceworks...
You probably don't even know what that is
cshar WAIT I DID MICRO MATHEMATICIANS AT MELBOURNE UNI TO
YR10SEHSASPIRANT RLLY THIS YEAR????
SpaceLover nahh I do know what scienceworks is : )
cshar no last yr oops
what was micromaths? Did u have to be selected or smth. If this was via ur school then my school is rlly bad with this stuff like barely and extended opportunites
MMHS no it’s extracurricular. It’s an extension program based on math run by Melbourne university but there is a whole application process
cshar did you get in?
akira real yep
akira real did you?
I had a good application with leadership roles, awards, sports involvement and I answered the science principle question with solar panels, I said I wanted to be can electronically engineer but I didn't show my science passion that much because didn't get any of those questions about science passion. DO you guys think I have a chance of getting second round???
Harshil
I think it's the fact you mentioned your career as a engineer.
My friends talked about how they wanted to be an engineer as well but you see John Monash mainly focuses on science.
Not only that, most likely John Monash thinks you would join RMIT Uni instead of Monash Uni because RMIT is better for people who are doing engineering.
My friend says he did really well in the interview and exam, but he is almsot certain he won't get a second offer just because he mentioned engineering.
But that's from my point of view so I could be wrong
LH44 Ig it all really depends, if your someone who wants a career within the field of science "long term" I think the school would be worth it. I found the best group of people and the closest friends I'll ever have who truly are perfect for me but ik my current school environment isn't right for me and my school just sucks academically and in general so ig another 3 year sacrifice of hard work will be worth it if that makes sense.

Harshil I also didn't receive many questions heavy on science but no matter what they ask you, you should probably elaborate on it further and to sum it up relate it back to science. Like when I got asked abt the science principle I related it to the career I want in the future (science related) but also my overall life...then when I started talking abt my life I incorporated how science is present in it blah blah blah, just yap but make it sound sciency, a bit serious abt your career and probably add in smt to make them cry even if its fake
