  • Anyone else sitting Suzanne Cory for year9 2025

Oh yeah and simulation was quite easy, writing was quite easy, math was surprisingly easy too, and luckily i fracticed my fractional powers that same day because there was that one question on fractional powers that ik a lot of people got wrong. verbal easy as always, reading was also easy and quantitative was fairly easy apart from a few timetaking ones.

for numerical, I remember a question about the average of cricket scores for the mock test, I find these rlly easy and usually answer them first. U?

    MMHS

Hello again! So, my mistake I got higher in persuasive which means we were literally the opposite. Yeah, i'm also pretty upset with my math but it's numerical that killed me. That's also probably the reason why I got middle. I have these panic issues, so i'm really trying to just meditate and focus on staying calm during tests. For preferences I put Suzanne first followed by MHS and nossal. Just saying, i'm not the fastest when it comes to quick calculations, but the cricket averages are quite easy. It is more the tricky worded problems for me. Hope we get in!

Yeah same like on the mock test I just went in a state of 'dumbness' i guess for just maths lol. Just make sure that you keep practicing at home under TIMED conditions as this is the best way to get rid of that stress/panic

        MMHS

I can definitely associate with the state of 'dumbness', that's the worst part for me. If that happens during the actual test.. i'm a goner. I'm just trying really hard NOT to freeze. And yes, practising under timed conditions, as always. For me it just feels so different when I am taking test at a site, like with other people. Bc i'm not really used to that. Anyway, good luck!

          PotatoSinghThe3rd
That's 100% me! I don't know what happens to me, i just become a statue and my brain goes blank and this never happens at home (of course, timed) but as you said at a site with hundreds of other students flooding all around. For numerical, it was a complete surprise because i am more better in maths as compared to english but in this N.R, I got the worst scores... If I get this for N.R then i am gone..

I am honestly really mad at myself for N.R because i got so much into solving the puzzles at the start of the test that i completely lost track of time and ended up randomly filling up the bubbles for the worded questions in the middle that i would have actually scored on...
          Anyways, Good luck to everyone!
          It is soooo nearrrrr alreadyyy!!!

So you did the James an mock test. What were results if you did it?

PotatoSinghThe3rd hi!! Do u have any like example questions from James an that I could attempt I can give some examples of the questions I do. If not that’s ok 🙂 I’m wayyyyyy to nervous for the exam

uhhh, my results.. they r not good. umm u can say they are bad. hehe..
V.R and Creative writing, i got high average. For N.R I got low average, I lost track of time 🙁 and for R.C I got below average 😭. I knowww, R.C was the easiest for me but I went to the bathroom, and because of that i wasn't able to do seven questions and ended up randomly marking them. Then Math I got a Sup. I am worried abt my persuasive writing though, I got like low average in that.
I mean how do you guys manage to stay calm during writings!

Also, can anyone pls share some tips for persuasive writing and how to finish it early..... !!

                      Miio

Hi Miio! So, I'm not really sure if we are allowed to share questions from the mock exam... but why not. Here's a few example questions from a couple subjects.

For math we had a few simple and straightforward algebra questions like:

                      Find the value of (2 ÷ √16 - 2 ÷ 2√9)
                      Solve for x in 32(x-3) = 81
                      Make x the subject for (2x-4y)/x = 1

                      Verbal:

Choose the closest synonym for the following word:
                      Annihilated
                      A. Dismembered
                      B. Reduced
                      С. Destroyed
                      D. Split
                      E. None of these

If STOCK is coded as NPLAJ the code for Price is
                      A. KNFAD
                      B. OQHBD
                      C. NKDAF
                      D. FKDAN
                      E. None of these

I'm not sure if that was too helpful, bc most of the problems were very lengthy and I couldn't bother typing them (especially numerical and reading). But that's an example of a few questions on the easier side. Good luck! As there is literally 19 days left and counting.

                        :):
What!! Sup for maths, what was your score, jeez you must be good. Did you find the track question hard or easy. I got a high average so you must be good. High avg for numerical, above for vr, high for creative, sup for persuasive and high reading. lol lots of high. Overall got above. I needed to go to the toilet as well during the writing but i managed to finish with ten mins to go and went after which was good. Ive got a few tips for persuasive. First, improve your vocabulary as this helped heaps with mine as I got a 5 for my vocab part of writing criteria. Secondly, include a rebuttal as I added this in my mock test piece and pulled it off well. Key to writing a good rebuttal would be to come up with a sound idea and then make sure to refute it again within rebuttal, one thing a lot of people forget to do. Thirdly, this will vary person to person, but do a lot of research on topics that not many people would study on, these can be found in newspapers and news articles as for this weeks simulation (Sim 2), I came up with a good few ideas for why i though rural life was better. I found it helpful knowing a lot of prior information and this helped me strengthen my point. So yeah, include VERY high standard vocab, structure it in a way that suites you ( I just stick to the normal 2 paras for/ against then my rebuttal), and don't spend too much time on planning if time management is an issue. For the actual time management aspect, don't get distracted by what others are doing in the test and only focus on yourself, try write fast (obviously) and go into the test with an open mind. Do you mind sharing any maths advice on how you understood the questions and get great scores for math, because currently, the questions themselves aren't the issue but rather time management and just not recognising the 'types' of questions in the heat of the moment.

                          Miio
                          Hi there!
Some of them included: rationalise: 4/sqrt5 -1, axis of symmetry and finding the equation of the parabola given and some others but i think PotatoSinghThe3rd also gave a few of the other questions as well

PotatoSinghThe3rd thank you so so much!! Our questions are basically the same
Like for numerical reasoning we had to find the missing number. (hate those so much) for verbal just vocab and puzzles and for math basically the same! I’m so scared for the exam !!!!! I think the venues that we are attending are getting sent out on Thursday
