  • Anyone else sitting Suzanne Cory for year9 2025

PotatoSinghThe3rd I hope we get in! Btw are u a guy or girl. I chose Suzanne Cory as a safe bet, because macrob is really competitive

Hey Miio! So to answer your questions, my school is quite competitive. Although it is a p-9 school, 25 people can be accepted and 40 are trying. I'm a guy btw, I'm choosing Suzanne because Melbourne High is very popular and pretty much everyone is choosing it. And by any chance did you sit the JAC mock test, and if so what did you get? Because I got fairly poor, high average overall. Anyway, I hope we get in!

hello, I sat the jac mock exam as well, superior in persuasive, high average creative, high average maths and quantitative, above for verbal and higher for reading. I think the pecents for me was 63 for maths, 60 quantitative, 73 verbal, 70 reading, 87 persuasive and 77 creative (26/30 and 23/30) overall got above

High average is good, meaning you are within the top 150 kids who attend james an, and there around 950 kids I think. One of my friends got middle and he's pretty smart.

also, one of my jac teachers got in Melbourne high via a second round offer, getting a sup in numerical and maths, average for writing, higher and above in both English. so if you are thinking that you wont be able to make it, just remember there are second round offers and believe in yourself.

Hey MMHS, thank you for that extra motivation. I just realised I must have accidentally typed 'high average' I got middle overall because I messed up my numerical. However, I took the test again and got way higher than before. I must have panicked or something, but now I have some hope. Thanks again!

PotatoSinghThe3rd Hi!! I don’t do Jac but I do north shore coaching it’s basically the same as jac but I get fairly good scores mostly above high average but it’s quite nerve wracking , the exam is in like 2 weeks!!

I know right! 2 weeks is so close, i'm just relying on my writing and maths at this point.

Me too! The first question for maths which was about the mid point just seemed too hard but when I looked back that was probably one of the easiest ones. I found finding the equation of a parabola quite easy as well as all of them were different

            MMHS

Same! Honestly, I messed up the mock test. I remember skipping both the mid point and race track questions. But now that I attempt them, they are not that difficult. For verbal and math I got high average, reading average, persuasive above average and creative superior. I'm just really upset about my numerical.. I got low average 😭. But overall I probably would have got high average if I did not screw up numerical. Congrats on the above average by the way!

Heyy thanks! You must be great at writing. Im not sure how you got middle, one of my friends got less than that and got higher. Math i got high as well and verbal got above. Mine was almost opposite for writing, higher creative and superior persuasive. Same, I skipped race track, although it was a bit timetaking

Im quite upset with my math though i could've gotten at least 65

idk abt you but I finsihed both writing pieces with 10 mins to spare so I was just looking at everyone writing away lol. I got up to go to the toilet and realised how large the james an company is honestly, around 900 kids attend and that ,means james an students take up about 20-30% of all students who take the exam!

Now that I think about it, how did you get middle, you should've gotten above as well bc we had similar scores

also, what was your preference order? mine was MHS, Suzanne and nossal i didn't put coz of the distance and travel time

also i find factorising and finding the value of x questions to be particularly easy and so i usually whizz through them, hence why i found the parabola question easy

Oh yeah and simulation was quite easy, writing was quite easy, math was surprisingly easy too, and luckily i fracticed my fractional powers that same day because there was that one question on fractional powers that ik a lot of people got wrong. verbal easy as always, reading was also easy and quantitative was fairly easy apart from a few timetaking ones.

for numerical, I remember a question about the average of cricket scores for the mock test, I find these rlly easy and usually answer them first. U?
