Going into grade 11

Hey guys,
I am literally in the middle of a free period rn. And my teacher was explaining how grade 11 is such a big jump from grade 10. Like the amount of work tripled or something like that. Ngl it scared the poop outa me 😫😫.
so i was wondering how it was or is for you guys from going to grade 10 to 11. Like obviously it had to be hard, but like not to the point where u die. right?..

Dr. Jess 😉 Honestly I think it's only a massive jump if you've never learnt any study habits/skills. If you already know how to study/revise you should be fine. It may get harder if you have a lot of content-heavy subjects and the rules arounds SACS/redemption/attendance are a lot stricter but I found it wasn't too overwhelming for me personally.
I think a lot of teachers made the jump seem a lot scarier than it actually is, just try your best to stay on top of things and you should do great

It was big but nothing too serious. As long as you work hard right now nothings too bad.
Only thing I would say is to really learn the basic skills right now, especially for English. They don't teach you much, you kinda all of a sudden have to start writing paragraphs and things without much actual 'teaching' if you know what I mean. Last year I did well in English and worked hard so I'm going fine rn, but if I hadn't I dont know what would've happened 🙁

Dr. Jess 😉 I'm a bit of a procrastinator at times so I'm still working on that lol but honestly quizlet/blooket, my note taking and getting friends to quiz me are my main strategies.
Quizlet/blooket feel like a more fun way of studying (plus most subjects already have pre-made sets for so many VCE classes) and quizlet has a an AI which can quiz or teach you which I find so helpful.
When it comes to notes unfortunately it's all just experimenting with what works for you. I personally colourcode with coloured pens for different bits of information but I know some prefer more visuals (like diagrams and graphs) or some use structures like cornell notes so it's a bunch of trial and error until you find a system that works for you.
Having friends in the same subjects and just talking to them/explaining concepts/quizzing each other can be such a good way of reinforcing information learnt and it means that you can be helping your friends and yourself which is always a bonus.
One other tip is figuring out what type of learner you are: do you learn best from audio/visuals/written words/practicical applications/other/a combination of any of these. For example, I personally learn best from written words so I find the textbooks/my notes the most useful for me but obviously this is different for everyone.
I'd also suggest practice SAC's/exams going into revision because it can highlight which areas you need to improve upoun (it's especially helpful if you have teachers willing to mark these for you but you can also self mark).

Is definitely correct, I would also reccomend getting yourself familiar with how to answer different type of task-word questions (e.g. discuss/analyse/identify) because it's so much easier to focus on content once you're comfortable answering the VCE style questions
