    22.01.2023

ight so today went by in a blur which is so not good.

[The next paragraph has nothing related to me studying at all but go ahead and read about my idiocracy if you would like to]

We had a cute little family movie night yesterday so we all woke up late (but obviously I woke up last) at 11:30 am πŸ˜€ . Anyway since I'm such an amazing sibling, I agreed to cut my sister's extremely thick and curly hair like 20 mins after I had woken up (idk why she wanted me to cut her hair cuz I kinda botched it last time). Also, the pressure was on because she had to go to tuition right after and made plans with her friends for tomorrow so if I messed it up, I'd be responsible for her looking like a very bad imposter of Bob Ross. She honestly shoulda gone to a hairdresser but her being such a sentimental younger sister said she wanted to spend some time w me so I could not refuse. It took me like an hour to cut her hair, I partitioned her hair into a million sections and kept checking if it was aligned, and right when I was about to say I was done like the proud untrained hairdresser that I was, my client requested that I do something to thin her hair out so she doesn't have to worry about tangled hair as much. So me being the smart ass, I agreed and proposed that I shave a triangle off the bottom of her scalp. that took another 15 mins.

    [Today's actual study log]

So I actually haven't done anything yet which shows my levels of procrastination, and journalling on this thread is actually kinda motivating.

My goals for today right now:

    • Finish Spesh complex hw from tuition (weekly booklet of 30 pages)
    • Hopefully, get started on the chem hw given by the school

                     {I will update my progress in a couple of hours}

    [A couple of hours later]
    so....

    • I did not finish the hw but I did 15 pages of next week's booklet

    • did not get started on chem

I am going to sleep now 😴

  • Hi! I'm going into year 12 this year and would like to know how to study for algo 3/4 if I am aiming to get a 40+ raw ss.

For the ex-Algo 3/4 students, if you were given the opportunity to redo the subject is there anything you would've done differently? and what would you do the same?

I would also like to know what I can start doing to do better in class and in SACs (eg. do a certain number of algorithmic puzzles every week, pre-learn before going to class). I am really lucky to have the subject taught at school rather than doing it remotely like a lot of schools. I also have 2 years of coding experience with python where I made some small projects.

How long prior should I start SAC prep and how should I prep for them? I've seen a friend who did Algo and they would complain about having a test every 2-3 weeks, is it a very stressful subject? I'm not sure how stressful it is and might think about dropping it (actually that might not be much of an option as I'm not rlly good at any others so I will have to suck it up and put in the effort) because my other subjects also take a while to study for. Just so I can get a jist of it, is it possible to relatively compare the difficulty of the subject? (is it like spesh? methods? phys? chem?)

Currently, my plan is to put in more of my effort into 3 subjects and get 40+=ss on them (SM, Phys, and Algo), mid-high 30s on Chem and (expect) a low 30s in Eng (cuz I'm so bad at English that it's actually painful).

[Please feel free to give me tips on how to study for my other subjects as well if you would like to!]

    Edit:

    My current subjects (goals):
    Eng 3/4 (prolly like a 30-34)
    Phys 3/4 (hopefully 40+)
Chem 3/4 (surely 35-37 is not too hard?)
Spesh 3/4 (hmm rlly hope 40+)
    Algo 3/4 (hoping for a 40+)
    Methods 3/4 (2022)

    • Hey there! Hope you are all doing well. I completed VCE with an ATAR of 99.85, as well as perfect study scores of 50 in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematical Methods. In 2023, I will be offering tutoring for VCE Mathematical Methods.

As a tutor, I understand that every student’s goals, motivations and learning style is different. Thus, I hope to cater for your individual needs; structuring and running lessons in such a way that you can get the most out of every session. Having achieved amongst the very best in the state for the subject that I am teaching, I believe that my wealth of knowledge and experience can greatly benefit any student, irrespective of what you are aiming for. Therefore, regardless of whether you are looking to gain a more profound understanding of the subject material, or seeking to learn clear, step-by-step approaches to tackle those difficult β€œseparator” questions on the end-of-year exams; I am here to help πŸ™‚

My current rate for tutoring is $50/hour for 1-on-1 tutoring and $30/hour for groups of two. I am able to offer in-person tutoring (Melbourne's Eastern suburbs).
If you are interested or have any further questions, please feel free to email me at any time (freddotutoring@gmail.com). I look forward to hearing from you soon!

      πŸ’Ÿ How I Can Help

VCE is a stressful time where balancing your work life and social life is a huge struggle. What I am offering is more than just content learning and reinforcement; I am able to provide you with the tips and tricks to stay on top of your studies and succeed in your final years of high school.

Personally, having spent hours and hours on Methods and Chemistry revision, I know that these subjects can be difficult for students to master. However, I have been able to thoroughly explore the nuances of various topics and carefully analyse the exams to create an in-depth, extensive tutoring program that ensures no stone is left unturned in your preparation. The course I’ve created is also tailored to the SAC schedules of schools and ensures that we finish content early, allowing plenty of time to work through + review past papers and to learn how to apply all your knowledge to smash your exams!

I aim to create a comfortable and encouraging learning environment where my students feel free to voice their concerns and opinions beyond just the content we learn. I am keen to provide guidance regarding time management, organisation, managing stress, career + course choices and just life in general. I strongly believe in engaging with my students and providing them with the support they require in these stressful years.

      ✏️ Conducting the Classes
You have the option of choosing to attend the classes either online (via Google Meet) or in-person (message me to discuss location and availability)
Online lessons will be recorded and uploaded for you to view and revisit at any time (useful for exam or SAC prep)
I will be using a tablet and pen to screenshare and annotate materials online and in-person that ensures your ease of comprehension.
Classes will start mid January to get a head start on the content. Each class is 2 hours long to help you get the most out of every session!

      ✏️ Individual or Small Group
If you are interested, please specify in your message whether you would like private or small group tutoring.
The size of small groups may range from 3-6 students so I can help you work through your strengths and weaknesses and personalise the tutoring to your needs. If you have a group of friends who you are looking to get tutoring with, make sure to let me know so I can arrange that!
