  • It's official. Rey is a Melbourne resident with roomates that are absolutely awesome. My new room is cute with pretty decent storage for uni accommodation and the view is spectacular.
Still can't believe I'm here tbh

  • FinFin-3rdYearUni yeah I'll definitely be doing all the o week stuff. I'm lucky enough to be living in uni accommodation so I'll have full access to the campus pretty much whenever which will give me lots of time to explore and meet people. The campus is beautiful but definitely pretty big so chances are I'll get lost a few times while figuring it out lol

  • School started again today and I got my Year 12 badge!! I cried a little on the train home bc I (kind of) still didn’t fully process that high school is going to be over.

Stressed because my friend studied all the Chem content over the holidays and I feel behind even though I’m still about two exercises ahead 😭. When I got home, I started to get frustrated over Chem.

    (Edit)
    Progress:

    • Edrolo Biology readings, 5A and 5B
    • Heinemann Chemistry 3.1 (until Question 5)
    • Art written report (about 136/500 words)
    • Japanese Unit 3 Week 1 submission (only essay task left)

can we like, not be typing random stuff in my journal please- make something separate to do whatever you want to call this 😭😭

  • Sejal ikr so true. I'm gonna miss my friends, the sorta relaxing workload. But at the same time i did the test for a reason and am now fulfilling it. Plus we are living out that day in the life video that arnav made lol

  • Okay I made it outta that semester alive lmao (how? good question, idk :') )

I decided to drop fown to 3 units this semester because that 4th unit was...just not something I could do/was interested in.

    The units I took:
Intro to Robotics - LEGIT WAS SO COOL RAGHHH. Got to program a robotic arm to do cool things. The first group project required us to type out a word on a tablet. The second group project made us analyse a photo to pick up particular blocks based on colour and shape. No exam, so there was a small assignment task due every week but we got there eventually. Ngl, favourite unit so far, took up so much brain juice though. Got a 6

Electronics - This subject was a pain because I didn't understand things to begin with, until like 2-3 weeks before the exam. The assignments were good revision though, and the knowledge from Electronic design (last sem unit) made sense bc I was finally learning the theory behind the practical things I did. Got a 5

Calc and Differential equations - Part of my math minor, took it as a relief subject tbh, I enjoyed it, was mostly relaxing. Exam wasn't too bad but I could've prolly done better. Got a 6

Overall, the semester wasn't too bad tbh. The problem was I didn't fully recover from first sem until week 5 of second sem, so that threw off quite a bit lol. I also realised my attention span has decreased and I procrastinated so much more because I didn't take care of my mental health (like I should've lol)

For 2025, there are some major life changes taking place and if I've learnt anything, its that its completely a-okay to take a little longer to get your degree done, if it means balancing out your life.

On another note, actually started watching Arcane and brain went brrrrr, very cool, love the animation.

Peace out, and enjoy the holidays,

  • well hi! i’m dani, better known as FH on atarnotes. i am a class of 2024 graduate with an 86.70 atar, and am starting university next year!!

i’ll be studying a bachelor of arts at monash university, majoring in journalism!! that was my first preference uni, so i’m glad i got that offer yesterday.

    i aspire to become an investigative journalist, because that specific field of journalism seems very engaging and has so much depth. i already had to choose my units for next year, as that confirmed my enrolment at monash, and i chose the following;

    semester 1:

    • ATS1071 political theory in a changing world: concepts, issues and debates
    • ATS1089 fundamentals in journalism
    • ATS1314 introduction to international human rights
    • ATS1421 understanding crime

    semester 2:

    • ATS1090 practice of journalism
    • ATS1315 human rights and social justice
    • ATS1423 criminal justice in practice
    • ATS1945 issues in australian politics and government

it’s quite a diverse range of units, but i did quite a bit of looking into each unit to make sure they’d be suitable for journalism.

feel free to check out my year 12 journal here, and i cannot wait to update everything in this journal (hopefully life doesn’t get too busy and i forget and neglect the journal)

  • Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been reading a bunch of VCE journals and thought it'd be cool to start my own. My older sister had a VCE journal from way back when ATAR Notes was still on the old forums, and I remember it being a big part of her year 12 life, so here's me jumping on the bandwagon.

    My VCE Journey so far
On a whim, I jumped into my first 3/4 in year 10 - Media. I was totally clueless and had no idea what I was signing up for, but miraculously, my school approved me doing it. Throughout the year, I kept hearing people talk about getting 40s as if it was a walk in the park. So I, as a naive year 10 child, thought a 40 would be easy. Then results day rolled around and I saw a 37 - which instantly humbled me.

This year (year 11), I did Literature 3/4, and put significantly more effort into it, having learnt from my past mistakes, and managed to get a 43 which I was beyond pleased with.

    What's still to come
Next year (year 12), I'll be doing Drama, Theatre Studies, Methods, Spesh, and Economics. Yes I know it's a messy bunch - hence the title of this thread.

I'm aiming for Bachelor of Arts at Melbourne Uni, double majoring in English and Theatre Studies (that's one major) and Screen and Cultural Studies (that's another major), with a concurrent Diploma in Mathematical Sciences (what a mouthful). Screen Studies is better known as Film Studies at other institutions but I guess Melbourne Uni gotta be unique.

Don't ask me what sort of job I'm planning to get with that. That's a problem for future me.

As for my goals, I'm hoping for 40+ in all my subjects (possibly too ambitious, but shoot for the moon, amirite?), and 45+ in Methods. Methods and Spesh are the subjects I'm most confident on. I'm not a super mathsy person, but at least with maths, if you put in the effort, you reap your reward. It's not like artsy subjects where things are just so subjective. You can put your heart and soul into a piece of creative work, but if the person marking it doesn't vibe with it, then too bad.

But anyway, that’s enough of an intro from me. I’ll try to update regularly and I hope you guys don’t get bored reading. To my fellow class of 2025 people, here’s to us smashing next year!

    Tl;dr:

    • Already did Media (37) and Lit (43)
    • Doing Drama, Theatre, Methods, Spesh, Economics
    • Goal is Arts at Melbourne
    • Wow guys its been ages since I was online.
      Final results are out!!!

      Atar: 96.05

      Study scores (raw):
      Business management: 38
      English: 39
      Psychology: 41
      Hospitality: 45
      HES aggregate: 4.0

I am so happy considering I spent a considerable chunk of the year thinking I may fail (anxiety... Yipee) but that was clearly delusional of me so yay.
But I should have enough for guaranteed entry into Melbourne uni which is what I wanted and I got above a 90 which was always my personal goal.

A bit disappointed at business cause I was hoping to get at least a 40 but pleasantly surprised by english as my exam was pretty average.

In other news I have done my last con of the year (Oz Xmas edition) where I did my first ever body paint with a homemade cosplay I sewed myself with frost giant Loki, aka one of my dream cosplays from when I started a few years ago so I'm so happy. Plus I did a payed photoshoot with a photographer I like and it was incredible.

I hope everyone is happy with their results or can at least relax knowing it's over.

      • Hey, do you guys know anyone who offers tutoring for VCE foundation maths at an affordable price? Let me know if you have any recommendations 😁😁
        Thanks

      • Hi everyone, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could spare 5 minutes to complete my IRP questionnaire!
        https://forms.office.com/r/YJHs6Jsp3h
This questionnaire is for my Year 12 Community and Family Studies IRP, where I am collecting data from 14-19 year olds about the effect of parents' work on an adolescent's wellbeing. All responses are anonymous.
Please only answer if you are aged 14-19!
Thank you! Closing date is 2/12/24.

      • Dr. Jess 😉

Yeah so how it works is like this:

        1. You finish your ATAR subjects
        2. Then QTAC scales your raw scores (calculated by QCAA) into Scaled Scores (which are calculated by QTAC)
        3. QTAC takes your best 5 subjects
        4. They then calculate an aggregate score which is essentially the scaled scores of the best 5 subjects added up
        5. Then they all convert your aggregate score to the ATAR (this is the conversion that most ATAR calculators don't have access to and as @FinFin-3rdYearUni mentioned they change slightly every year so they have to roughly estimate this conversion based on aggregate scores they already have and the associated ATARs).

Also, we have this exclusive community that we just set up recently and its specifically for Queensland students. You can ask as many questions as you need and it has a ton of resources. We're doing a holiday workshops for the core subjects starting in December with worksheets and questions given afterwards. No stress to join haha but its definitely worth joining especially if you're in year 12: https://www.skool.com/qcaa-atar-saver-community/

        Good luck with year 12!
