hi, i'm a y10 student going into y11 next yr, subj selections r soon and i already know my 5 subjs that i will pick which either scale well/really well or are my strengths. i'm planning to get at least a 99.6 atar so i NEED to maximise my atar as much as possible and also leave as much time as possible to do my amusa and other prep. for my 6th subject i'm somewhat conflicted, and i'm considering either music rep performance, history, or spesh.

i'm currently preparing for my amusa piano exam and want to get it done by the end of next year, which would also mean i would need to do g5 theory. i also have perfect pitch. the vcaa rubric for music rep seems simple and straightforward but i've been told that its extremely subjective. yes so is amusa but this actually counts towards your atar so im hesitant there. currently i'm pretty hesitant to take it because i feel underqualified and average. everyone ik who is doing or had done music rep did or will do their amusa as well. if i do end up doing music rep i dont think that i'll be expecting sm for it, but it seems the most appealing out of the 3 cuz then i can get two things done at once and maybe have some free time in y12 to play piano (which i do enjoy).

for history i feel like it is kinda redundant. sure it helps u know about the world and it is smth i do enjoy and read on in my free time. the catch is that the history i wanted to do has been taken out of the school syllabus and replaced with a more "redundant" one that does not extensively correlate with the rest of my subjects. even though i think englishis my strongest subject, i will have to memorise a LOT of quotes and read a lot of my sources which i anticipate will eat into my time extensively. and it scales down if u get an average, i presume the marking is also subjective because the nature of primary sources and secondary sources can be really subjective and interpretations vary between historians. i believe that acknowledging these interpretations will require substantial memorisation and reading, which is a hassle considering this subj should be my 6th or so? but if i don't do music i might do vsv history to do the course of history i actually want? idk, vsv might be harder tho to actually do

i only thought of perhaps doing spesh for the scaling. i am accelerating methods but not taking the exam in y11. i'm currently failing all my methods assignments, it's really bad. idk how to study for math effectively and i have found it boring and hard to grasp until recent. it eats up a lot of my prep time and has limited my time to study my other subjs. but i think now with targeted practice and a few other lifestyle changes i seem to be getting a little bit better? i hope i can salvage my marks though, i want to continue accelerating in y12 and not fall back. i lowk hv beef with math, i'm better at hums and the other sciences. and i CANNOT drop methods or else i bomb my chances of getting what i want. i am finding math a bit more enjoyable, but i don't know if its a good choice to pick spesh...methods already takes me a long time. however, i think with the right practice and more discipline i could get back up quite quickly, in y5 my math was terrible but i spent 1 year on scholarship prep and i got to a y8 lvl of math in y6. so i think its defo possible if i acc lock in and get the support i need... idk if i enjoy math or not, i only enjoy it once i grasp the concepts and can solve the problems properly. if i do spesh right i could boost my scaling even more which is what many people who are aiming for the same course as me seem to be doing; i'm only feeling compelled to do spesh cuz literally everyone i know/knew took spesh.

so i am pretty conflicted between the 3...

given everything so far, what is the cohort like in music rep? are they mostly comprised of amusa high achieving students and what should i realistically expect of the course? will it be difficult to score a raw 40?
is history vsv really worth it, and is history even worth taking in general if ur goal is to maximise ur atar? is it really as subjective as it seems? i don't think i would thoroughly enjoy doing the f2f history subj either, it seems redundant in comparison to what else i wanna do...
should i do spesh if math is my weakest link?
realistically given all this info how hard would it be for me to score and which is the best/least riskiest that aligns with my overall plans?
