How are you guys studying for the unseen prompt for AOS2? My school is doing personal journeys and tbh idk how I'm supposed to study for this

ctrl+alt tbh I don't really think there's that much we can do besides consider whatever advice you've gotten from teachers and maybe practice in timed conditions. I geuss examining other pieces for language choices/techniques they use to familiarise yourself with them to make it easier to apply to your own writing?
    IDK either tho

ctrl+alt we are doing protest but i think the same concept applies. have an idea that is easily manipulated to the stimuli. i have my sac tomorrow, im writing on a musician protesting the thieving of tickets through bots on ticketmaster. it has been applicable to all three practices we have gotten.

looking at the sample exam for personal journeys:

      Stimulus 1
‘Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.’

      Stimulus 2
(image of the road with the line that divides the road trailing off path)

interpreting personal journey it reads, i would develop an idea that embodies the changing of oneself, such as realising identity, formation/loss of friendships and relationships, etc. you should’ve discussed topics in class, and this isn’t my topic so i might be wrong with those examples.

remember you need a key purpose…

Express: A student writer seeking to express would explore recounts, storytelling and/or narratives of imagination to engage with actions, events, experiences and/or ideas.
Explain: A student writer seeking to explain would explore cause and effect, and possible consequences of actions, events, experiences and/or ideas.
Reflect: A student writer seeking to reflect would explore experiences of personal discovery that shape their understanding of actions, events, experiences and/or ideas.
Argue: A student writer seeking to argue would explore a point of view, would take a stand and propose solutions to convince others of actions, events, experiences and/or ideas.

from that central idea, ensure that it can be easily manipulated and connected to stimuli. for example:
realising identity: explain how the current identity of your character is a creation of the best form as a result of being different identities (applicable to both stimuli 1 and 2)
formation/loss of friendships: reflect on poor friendships and the consequences of such, and how they guided your life to be “off track” (more relevant to stimuli 2)

the key idea: make sure the idea is flexible to different stimuli.

practice writing with different stimuli, develop different plans with different topics and find something that sticks.

hope i didnt yap and it somewhat makes sense!

ctrl+alt absolutely! i’d suggest get your teacher (if they’re good…) to check over what you write and whether you met the criteria of sufficiently linking it to the stimuli. good luck 🤞

ctrl+alt just a few points from my english class from today on how to prepare during the SAC.

        5-7 minutes to unpack stimuli

3-5 minutes to put it into a pre-planned plan (putting it into relevance)

        • context
        • framework
        • persona
        • audience
        • purpose

        remaining time = writing
