Does the selective school you are applying to give you a better chance if your school is dumb?

I mean it does as long as you hit the benchmark for the school you want to go to: if you meet the required marks and are the best in your school, then it does give you a better chance - this is for Yr 9 entry but idk if it would apply for Yr 10 and 11

is yr 10 entry schs conducted by edutest? Also is there only one test for all the selective schools like they did in yr9 entry, or do they have their own individual tests?

𝖉𝖍𝖗𝖚𝖛𝖎❦ yeh. It's easy. 30mins for all components of the test (NR, RC, MATH, VR) and 30mins with 5 min planning for writing(either narrative or persuasive not both). VR and math have 60 questions while RC and NR have 50 questions. The hardest tests were prob RC or VR.

𝖉𝖍𝖗𝖚𝖛𝖎❦ Sorry but I don't remember much from the test, and all I really did to study was some spare practice test my friend gave me, and did some(if not all) math topics from an ICEM year 9 book. I got some vocab from a book called "1100 words you should know" and read more complex literature to help me with RC. The only question I remember from the test was "what is the length?, where the width is 17cm and the area is 153cm2" from the math section.
