GY Hey GY, I actually self studied for the most part.. so not much tuition tips there. I'm aiming for either Melbourne high or Suzanne next year because most of my friends went there, but I really want to go to Suzanne. What school are you going for? (if you are doing it). For tips, I know from experience that it is extremely beneficial to practice vocab around this time before the test (which i didn't do last year). Also, keep practicing tests and material you think you struggle with, build a concrete plan and routine of what and how you are going to study each day and since this is year 10 entry they're going to check your extracurriculars. So, make sure to do something outside of studying. Personally, I am signing up for cadets, and I am extremely good at cross country as I placed second in my cohort (but second isn't good enough.. jk). I also play the piano and chess. All these tips are things I didn't think about last year when studying, and now that I have been mindful enough to start implementing these into my day, I can already feel a difference. The most important thing though, is to do what feels best to you. So study hard!
PotatoSinghThe3rd gl bro all i gotta say is lock in and do us proud

At last i am back and trying to get over the fact that i didn't get selected this year but just like @"PotatoSinghThe3rd" i am applying for SEHS year 10 entry next year. This year i didn't get in because of my RC and VR (both b.a) so i am trying to focus on that only and bits on writing. But i still cant improve my RC.. i keep on getting the same marks no matter how many mock tests i do. Worst part is I don't even know where i am going wrong. Soooo, if anyone of u have any advice or literally anything on how i improve my RC and VR, it would be really appreciated.
Interested
I think i'm gonna try as i am very interested in the field of science but its actually far from where i live so idk yet. Still my first motive is to get in SEHS in yr 10. r u applying JMSS tho?
:): yeah i am applying to JMSS
:): Same, I keep getting the same result for VR, and for me the biggest problem is my vocabulary, there's not much tricks with questions asking you find the odd one out or anything like that.... so that's why I'm preparing early and it's really hard since English is my second language and I speak another one at home and a following up with a third language..... but gl either way on your exam!
liiilie key tip is use process of elimination for vr - super helpful, trust me from my experiences lol. For like the pattern questions and stuff in vr, like where you shift the letters, there’s like 2 of 4/5 options that are suuuuuper similar, and follow the pattern so you just work out the answer - but not fully - just focus on the key differences between the options, and work it out. Automatically it’s either one lol
does anyone know what to study for year 10 entry
𝖉𝖍𝖗𝖚𝖛𝖎❦ its ran by edu test
:): I also had the same problem as u. Sucked at RC and VR. There really aren't any huge tips other than to read more complex literature. What I would do occasionally was when reading any type of media(books, manga, articles, etc) I would speed read a 1-2 paragraphs of text, then without looking try to remember as much information and jot it down on a piece of paper, then read the original text slowly to see any hidden meanings or connections(cus that happens a lot in RC tests), then compare what I wrote to what was actually there. If I had two completely different meanings from what I wrote to what was the actual meaning then I would try to tone down the speed, and repeatedly do that until I could fully comprehend a text in one read. This gradually helped me pick up reading faster, saving me precious seconds if not minutes.
sorry for the waffling in advance, hope it helps! btw u are way faster than me at getting over selective, I was depressed for like half a year, then finally I started to get a grip and focus on what is important(year 10 entry). I believe that you'll make it.
𝖉𝖍𝖗𝖚𝖛𝖎❦ watch Jayce Battelons(no idea how to spell name) video on selective format or JMSS format. The math topics he talks about are all very prevalent in the mathematics and NR tests.
yeah ive had a brief look at his videos for jmss but ill check the selective one too tysm this was so helpful
